I’m surprised they’re allowed to make the ridiculous claims they make. This thing costs $300.00 & it’s advertised as “The easiest exercise you’ll ever do.”
You put your feet on & it automatically moves your legs as if you’re bicycling. They’re telling the truth when they say, “The machine does all the work for you.” That should be a hint about how useless it is. It’s like lifting weights by putting your hands on a weight while someone else lifts it. Or riding an electric bicycle for exercise. It’s heavily advertised, so it must be selling. Unbelievable how easily people are conned!
I agree with you! A few of my friends were interested in it, taking the easy way out of exercising. What a waste!
Maybe they should just market it as something that “helps improve circulation” ![]()
Darn it. I’ve ordered 5 of them. One for each protruding limb ![]()

Hi
You are obviously a person with very strong views on certain medical related issues, something we have in common.
The difference being that our views are polar opposites.
Firstly, some general background information, I do find context important in so many things.
I have never been either Police or Military, but have always been a Government Employee, a different type of enforcement, dealing with Public Health and Public Safety, nothing special at all.
No powers of arrest, an annoying Civilian, very annoying at times.
The 5th Amendment as you have in the USA, here in the UK, it is the You do not have to say anything Caution, still applies, I have to be clear on that, but then continue with, however, in this instance that does not apply as it is a matter of Public Health and/or Public Safety.
Anything you do say cannot be used in evidence against you, however if you refuse to answer my questions, you are committing a Criminal Offence.
Simple fact of life, no comment or misinformation which could lead to the injury or death of others, means you can be locked up.
I am not rambling or going Off Topic, just setting the scene.
These electric exercisers do work, developed for rehab of Military Seriously Injured.
They enable the injured or those who need serious surgery, such as joint replacement, to be rehabilitated.
They get things moving and pumping again, instead of just leaving them permanently injured because of pain and lack of movement.
They supply oxygen to the Muscles and stop further muscle wastage.
For the very Frail they may be permanent solutions to get some form of Mobility.
For many others, like myself, they are an essential beginning to be able to walk again, improving your quality of life is what you want.
My injuries at work were life changing.
I used them when I came out of Hospital recently, so much freedom and self respect.
Now gone back, I am sitting here on purely Mechanical exercisers, no electricity at all, purely Muscle power and looking forward to being able to walk on my own again, get myself a coffee etc.
They are an essential start to be being more self reliant and having a much better standard of life.
If they had been around 35 years ago, my life now would be so very, very different.
Enough for now, I have similar views on Medication, the 30 pills a day plus others are what keep me alive.
I like being alive.
There is nothing wrong with using such self-powered equipment for certain people with limited mobility or recovery from injury, surgery or illness. My issue is marketing them to EVERYONE, as a weight loss, fitness-improving device. Note the woman in the commercial saying, “I’m burning calories.” That simply isn’t true; she’s burning the same calories she would burn by sitting in the chair without the Ellipse. For that purpose, it is useless - except to generate profit. They are taking advantage of people who are overweight & will try anything, & buy anything.
Nothing wrong with Rx medication, either - when needed. But:
It is certainly low impact. But these machines can be of true worth to some. As not all exercise is about burning calories. Sometimes it is about keeping joints moving & blood circulating.
I am a qualified physiotherapist & I have recommended this type of machine. I even brought one for an elderly relative with terminal cancer. His balance was poor & his strength was diminishing. And that machine allowed him to sit in a chair & at least get some exercise.
Exercise is good for us in multiple ways. For example, it releases feel good endorphins & Cortisol, a stress reducing hormone. It also helps with sleep & generally has a positive impact on mental health.
As you mentioned, for someone elderly & ill, it has some benefit.
My issue is advertising the product for everyone - including the young & healthy - and claiming weight loss & fitness benefits that don’t exist.
Gosh @win231 ,you’re so negative. Next you’ll be telling me that the pianola I bought isn’t going to help my technique…

LOL. Excellent comparison!
Well it did get me wondering if it would help stretch out the kinks in my rheumatic knees … the lazy way.
That’s far too subtle. ![]()
The mind boggles about Dex’s fifth limb…

Neck? Compressed.
I’ve had one for years, not that exact one an older model called “The Cubii” I got it when I had my knee replacements done. It worked wonders for me and I’m so glad I got it. I keep it under my desk and often have a pedal while I’m on the computer. When I’ve not been to the pool for a week or so my knee joints start to stiffen up, a daily whizz on the Cubii soon sorts that out. It has 8 levels of pressure I keep it on 4.
I’m wondering if that would help Mrs fox’s knee Rox.
The doctor told her that she needed physio, but she’s reluctant to go to the hospital physio because it was so painful and didn’t really make any difference, except hurting her for the next two days after treatment…
What about those “tens” machines? Electrical stimulus without the movement.
Not for weight loss/fitness. Think we’ve moved on from that point now.
It probably would but check it out on You Tube first. It’s a free standing one you don’t plug it in, but it’s quite heavy to move about. That’s why I put mine under the desk so it’s out the way, and I don’t fall over it.
No need to pay a lot either, you can get nearly new ones off EBay, that’s what I did.
The electrical stimulus is supposed to work by improving circulation. I’ve never heard claims about fitness or weight loss.
