Anyone see the solar eclipse? Any pics?
Here’s mine:
The lens flair (at the bottom) is actually a more accurate indication of how much of the sun was covered.
It was a lovely setting, being surround by all those trees

I am waiting until the 22nd July 2028 when Wollongong get the real thing - a total solar eclipse. I have seen partial eclipses before they are much ado about nothing but a total eclipse is something else (I hope)

We didn’t get to see it, it was cloudy, just getting over a storm.
Next one is next August but will still be only partial in our areas.

Yes we watched it thanks to our lovely neighbour who had glasses saved from the 1999 eclipse. We couldn’t get any anywhere. We all stood in the road, well on the path together, watching it. Neighbours opposite joined in too. One of the few times we have all been neighbourly for an hour.

There was not much to see here in London, but I did enjoy seeing neighbours in the street getting creative for 5 minutes with their colanders.

I suppose the same could be said for many other things too Dachs, much is about expectations. One thing that is apparent is that the eclipse got people’s bums (including mine) off the sofa, outdoors and indulging in a little chit chat and socialising. All very healthy, can’t beat a bit of community colander therapy…

Fair enough, Chilli. Don’t expect anything creative from me. Nothing against keeping a community spirit vibrant, as you describe. I was actually having our media hype in mind, especially those reports showing folks who flew to Mallorca just because the eclipse could be seen better. That is a bit insane.

She is a total technophobe Chilli and has never had any interest in computers or the internet other than ordering the odd items through our daughter. I refuse to order stuff using my laptop.
She uses a beat up old clamshell phone to text and talk to her friends, it spends more time on the floor than next to her ear…Clumsy… 
I have pointed out the benefits of the internet and even suggested I buy her a nice smartphone, I’m just able to walk properly without crutches now…
