Johny Ray and his song “Green Door” or the pink toothbrush song
Ooohhh - this triggers some memories - I remember sitting and listening to ‘Uncle Mac’ on the ‘light’ Programme (Now BBC Radio 2) on Saturday mornings and listening to this:
I only remember Frankie Vaughan singing Green Door, and doing that high kick as he sang it. My Mum used to love him.
The Pink Toothbrush song was Max Bygraves as I recall.
As a kid I used to love Tommy Steele’s ‘Little White Bull.’
I’ve still got the single of that, bought for me by an ex boyfriend after he took me to see the film. Tommy the Toreador.
your right sorry
My first musical memory was of my mother playing this on our piano:

I must have been about 4 or 5.
Andy Pandy’s here today
La La La lala La
Andy Pandy’s coming to play
La La Lala La.
I fear your memory has failed you:
I got all excited then Dex. I thought it’d be what I remember my mum playing. But it wasn’t.
For all her ills, my mum was a wonderful pianist and try as I might to find out the name of the piece I loved her playing, I can’t. Short of going into somewhere humming it, I’ll never find it. It’s a famous piece… and goes duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh duh, duh, duh… duh, duh, duh duh, duh, duh, duh, duh. But you can’t hear that
I suppose it was mum playing the piano, grandad played trumpet in Sally Army, so I suppose really those were my first intro to music.
It’s hard to remember what the years were but I remember a 78s collection. I remember records of Mario Lanza and others, and the one I remember being played lots was:
…
Edited!!! :-p:-p:-p
Yay! I found the piece I menioned in bold above! But, unless I’m missing something, I can’t find the name of it in the listed pieces being played, and it’s only a small portion being played before it cuts off.
Does anyone know please?
It’s the last piece here at 3.31
I got all excited then Tiff, but I’ve just got a blank screen
Got it now! Thanks Tiff for putting me out of my misery!! You’re a love.
I use to love that when she played it. :-p
I edited it, go back to the page before.
See you found it. You are welcome, Pesta,
Oooh, I’m on a roll now :-p
Also vividly remember Russ Conway:

and:
Frank Ifield
I loved Russ Conway, met him in Weymouth once with my Mum, when we were on holiday & went to his concert. He was lovely.
He had a sort of shyness about him didn’t he? Attractive too.
I googled him and was astonished to read he suffered with depression, self doubt, smoked 80 fags a day and drank heavily.
Frank Ifield looks like our Foxy.
That’s reminded me of Frank Ifield’s “I Remember You”, a hit when I was on holiday with my parents in Cornwall…
And they both yodel. Mmmm?
:-p:-p
