Hi Cookiecate , how are you managing without the pills? Perhaps you’d like to post on our other thread ‘Weight Losses,’ if you don’t want to record your actual weight each Saturday, just post any loss you have. The idea is to support each other - in this thread & record - in the other.
I know a young man who really would like an operation to help him, (he has many problems) his doctor has prescribed similar med’s with the hope that he can lose enough weight to have the operation safely.
I am finding it easy to not use the pills as I am eating loads of fruit salad, beans on toast, banana sandwiches and 99% fat free yogurt, bread sticks and baked potatoes. The only time I have a pill is after a BBQ when I have had chicken breast, salad and may be a little lite mayo.
At the moment I am satisfied, I recognize that later on I shall be wanting different stuff but there are lots of low or even fat free options of all kinds of food.
My weight nurse says that weight watchers foods are quite good but I really don’t trust them to be high in sugar and salt. I was looking at the ingredients for slim fast the other day and was just appalled at the ingredients. Even Special K has a higher calorie count than many other cereals.
I will deffinitely join you on the weight loss thread although I am so ashamed of my starting weight.
Hey, we’ve all been there, done that, with T-shirts galore!
Because I live alone plus I’m lazy now, I eat quite a lot of
ready meals ( hope I can keep it up with the prices climbing) I don’t like WW meals either but I do buy M&S Count on Us & their Fuller Longer, meals but the FL ones may have more fat - best to check the ingredients.
I too find that a lot of ‘food’ marked low fat is loaded with sugar & sugar masquerading under another name - usually ending in ‘ose’! I watch this too because my mother in law died because of diabetes. I don’t want to go there!!
Can I join you in losing weight? I comfort eat and binge after some awful things in my life years ago. This has resulted in me going from 8.5 stone to 15.5 stone.
My health and joints are now suffering and I am in constant pain so I really need to take stock and get myself under control as I want a life again. I would love to get to 9 or 9.5 stone and feel good about myself and look good again.
My weigh in day at Fat Club is Thurs, but I wont report till the Sat whether it be gain:cry: or loss:-D(Been doing this since Feb and I think its 23lbs Ive lost:-):-)0
It is good that we support each other. I am finding eating stuff which is ‘good for me’ at the moment really easy. I live close to an Aldi and the fruit there is good quality and cheap. I make up a big bowl of fruit salad every day. Lovely juicy sweet melon, strawberries, blueberries, cherries I open a tin of pineapple and add a few pieces and some of the juice (not syrup) then Ihave some for breakfast, some for lunch and a nice low fat bbq at night. I add achopped banana on top of the fruit salad or a little fat free yogurt. I am enjoying myself at the moment, can’t imagine getting fed up with fruit.
At night for a snack I have been chomping on breadsticks and fat free cottage cheese with an apple or plum or pear.
Good luck to all you weight losers.
I am going to walk the dog now pain free since I had the cortisone injections. Yippppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
You seem to have things well under control Cookiecate, plus getting plenty of vitamin C. I was once told that if my body was a car, vit’ C would be the spark plugs…
My scales can be adjusted to weigh in either pounds, stones & pounds or kilograms. I keep them on St & lbs which often weigh to a decimal point of a pound. - So I will record my weight exactly as my scales say.
No brownie points for me. I am afraid I have not been knuckling down and making any effort this week. No excuses I have been very lazy and indulgent gaining the 2lbs I lost last week. So I am back to square one which means I will have to take my own advice watching the goodies and getting more active. It’s a good job I don’t need to lose a lot of weight or I don’t think I would ever get there at this rate. Well done to those who have managed some loss no matter how small it is going in the right direction.
My scales at home are liars cheats, they are the enemy, I am however, going to my doctor’s surgery every two weeks and his scales are my best friends and know what they are talking about.l
Why is that I wonder as my doc’s scales are the same!! I take bp medication so I have a yearly check up which includes weighing on doc’s scales. I was questioning the scales because each time I am weighed I too weigh quite a bit less on the doc’s scales. I was told the scales at the surgery were correct and had just been calibrated. So I got some new scales thinking my old scales were faulty. I’m still not convinced that my doc’s scales are correct as I weigh the same on my new scales as I did on my old scales.
Hi Rueban & Cookiecate, I’m told that the scales used in Slimming World classes cost about £400 to buy. I don’t know about your GP’s scales but it looks as if the more expensive the scales, the more accurate they are. My bathroom scales were no where near £400…
Oh my goodness Nuttygran-- £400  I thought my £25 Salter scales cost enough. It would be very nice if the doc’s scales are correct because that means I weigh less than what I think I do. Even so it still doesn’t make me look any thinner at the doc’s than I do at home.
I just use my scales to tell me if I’ve lost or gained. I only get weighed at the doctors - accompanied by a lecture from a nurse - about once per year. What amused me this year was that the nurse looked as heavy as me, plus about 30 years younger. My cholesterol, blood pressure & everything else are spot on, I’m just too short for my weight…
I was given a packet of chocolate biscuits on Tuesday. I thought I’d just eat one - wrong!!! I have binged since then. This has happened at intervals all my adult life. It is like one drink to an alcoholic.
