Will Smith smacks Chris Rock live at the Oscars

But of course. They $ paid well.

And I respect that your opinion is different than mine. I would expect nothing less. In fact, it would be a bit creepy if we thought ‘exactly’ the same.

Will Smith is most certainly in my top 10.
I may not approve of some of his behaviour but it doesn’t take away from him, as a person, or the the contribution he has made in the entertainment business.

I’ve not watched many of his movies Bratti, but I must admit that ‘I Robot’ and ‘Independence day’ are good memorable films. I’ve never been keen on comedy movies though.

Well, I’ll be honest - until this morning I had never heard of any of these people - and if I had heard him telling the “joke” I read in the news today, I would have assumed he was talking about a film I have never heard of and I would not have realised it was a joke and I certainly would not have realised it was about baldness or alopecia.
To be honest, I don’t care if I never hear about any of them again - but if one of them was mocking someone in the audience who has alopecia, they should be taught that it’s not funny - it’s mean and it’s unkind.
And the chap who smacked the so-called “comedian” needs to learn some anger management techniques - unless it was all staged for some kind of publicity stunt - from the video clip I saw, the slapping part did look a bit contrived - neither of them are good role models for any young people who may be influenced by people in showbiz.

Badly done all round, I’d say.

Smith was a very good role model in that when assaulting someone, he showed that it isn’t always necessary to use a knife nor other weapon. Some cultures should take note of that.

If you want action then, Independence Day, Men in Black ( series ), Bad Boys or Enemy of the State are good.

If you want a deep, meaningful movie, then ….
The Pursuit of Happiness, Seven Pounds or Collateral Beauty

You probably won’t like Hancock or Aladdin if you don’t like comedy.

And what I think is probably most disappointing about Will Smiths behaviour is that it was a slap in the face to all the black actors who had to strive to get noticed and acknowledged in Hollywood before him.

Denzel Washington’s look said it all. Sidney Poitier, Samual Jackson , Morgan Freeman , Wesley Snipes Danny Glover, Forrest Whitaker etc…

Not to play the racist card but they did have to prove themselves above and beyond to get where they did.

I hope my personal opinion doesn’t offend anyone.

Everything is out there on the internet.
This is doing the rounds today … especially for those who applauded him.

Back in 1991 … an interview where Will Smith cracks a joke about a chap’s bald head.

Quite simply, if Will Smith or his wife were hurt by the comments, they would have done better to just tell him, and ask for an apology, rather than use violence.

Assaulting someone is not my idea of a good role model!

They could have just walked out - with dignity.

No enough publicity mileage in that for them :rage:

I really don’t think Smith is that needy of publicity.

Oh they all are! It’s crack cocaine to them

I still think it was a publicity stunt because to get the attention off CODA and on to himself

Jim Carrey ‘sickened’ by standing ovation for Will Smith after slap. Also said he would sue Smith for $200M if it had happened to him.

Who is CODA?

It’s the film that got the Oscar for best film, Bratti

It’s about Ruby, the only hearing member of a deaf family and it’s supposed to really good

I think it’s a shame for them that these Oscars have become all about Will Smith and the slapping. It’s stolen their thunder a bit, it should have been their time in the limelight

Harry seems to agree with that statement. I wonder how long before she becomes bored with Ginger.
