Why On Earth Would You Dress An 8 Year Old Kid In A Suit, On A Day Like This?

Poor 8 year old Prince George dressed up like a dog’s dinner in an old man’s suit in soaring temperatures to visit Wimbledon. Sorry… but for me that ain’t natural.
Ok, so he’s going to be a future king of England… well that’s if we don’t become a Republic by then!

Poor little kid, l say.

Would you agree? Or am l being unreasonable?

I agree ,Yeah what’s wrong with shorts, its blooming hot, sort of back to the days of Charles doing what mum said, stuffy royals.

Absolutely agree with you, Arty.
I commented straight away, poor little lad, dressed up like dog’s dinner in this heat.
Who would dress a child in a jacket and tie ffs, he should’ve been wearing shorts and a tee.

They ought to train him up as a ball boy. Must be real horrible for him not been able to act like a kid.

Though I agree with others who’ve expressed the view that he’ll never be king. I suppose he could always go and live with his cousin Archie.

I haven’t seen it, but I know their dress code is quite formal. Charlotte has to wear dresses, for example…she would never be allowed to be photographed in shorts or trousers  But to dress a child in a suit in this weather is just plain nonsense.

And it will be all the worse because royalty have a rare condition that stops them from sweating, you know.

It was a formal occasion so he was correctly, if uncomfortably, dressed. Why would an 8 year old want to attend anything as boring as tennis anyway??

OK, OK, I am going! :smiley_cat: :smiley_cat: :smiley_cat:

You’d think they’d let him have a little knockabout wouldn’t you.

Of course there’s dress code for the Royal Box:

https://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/about_wimbledon/royal_box.html

Protocol - dress is smart, suits/jacket and tie, etc. Ladies are asked not to wear hats, as they tend to obscure the vision of those seated behind them.

Prince George has to learn the ways of his world … :slightly_smiling_face:

At age 11, my school uniform was a 3-piece pinhead worsted wool suit - for all weathers.

Errrm… circa late 1950’s, early 1960’s which was yonks ago!
Times have changed since then… even dressing with almost nothing on, is acceptable now!

Goodness … did it come from Savile Row? Sounds posh.

I know the public school Omah went to… you’d ‘arrived’ if you went there!

Posh huh?

Really , not sack cloth and ashes.

That was for the penitents.

He got to hold the trophy, though, so perhaps he thought it was worth it
