Why Does My Internet Go Off At 21.45, Every Night?

Thanks for the info. :023:

Windows 10 Mail is just horrible. Regarding the original problem I would consider changing to Plusnet, they’re priced close to TalkTalk or for the Rolls Royce experience Zen who are only a couple of pounds dearer. I’ve been with Zen for 15 years + with no problems. They’re said to have great customer service too but I can’t confirm this as I’ve never had to contact them.

I don’t think W.10 Mail is that bad and I did use it for quite a while. The main beef I have with it is that some messages won’t word wrap. Why this can’t be fixed I don’t know.

Thunderbird manages that OK and so does Mailbird, the email client I eventually settled on.

have you got your computer to turn off as in sleep mode? sounds to me the settings need checking.

Quite a simple explanation… it’s Jesus telling you it’s time for bed :lol:

Is the engineer due today or tomorrow or Friday … :?:

:mrgreen::mrgreen:

The engineer came yesterday and installed a new router.

I am quite concerned though.
I logged on this forum late last night when l got home from being out. I logged in ok and then my internet went off.
I looked at the new router and the green lights were dancing from side to side again. I had to log back onto the internet.

When l logged into this forum, a caption came up saying words to the effect of, ‘This site is not secure and someone can steal… l can’t remember the rest…

I logged out of this site but shortly after, l noticed, l was still logged in? I have never pressed the option to stay logged in.

Could someone be able to intercept my iPad/internet in some way?
Sorry, if l sound paranoid but it’s all very weird…

Your new router will take time to settle in but make a note of any oddities, such as you mentioned, in case you have to report the new router as “faulty”.

Did the engineer leave you any instructions or operations guide?

No he didn’t. Just the router.

Something about the way you word this seems off.

When your internet went off did you check the connection icon at the bottom right of your screen? In what way do you “log on” to the internet? I don’t have any such log in process. My laptops know my Router/Wifi and just connect automatically, no logging on involved.

Are you using wireless connections or a cable?

Has it got a model number on the back?

or does it look like this:

https://accessories.talktalk.co.uk/Home/GetImage/15061

or this:

Not very helpful. The Virgin engineer (I’m sure he wasn’t actually a virgin) who installed my new router a couple of years ago was very helpful.

Sometimes, I think you just have to nag some people until you get the help you need.

Realist, My connection to my wireless router went off at approx 12.45 am. The connection logo is at the top of my screen and it wasn’t showing.
A page came up stating, l wasn’t connected to the server as there was no internet connection.
So l went to my settings on my iPad and it didn’t come up with my wireless network name, TalkTalk******, only this Sky???. It also said ‘Other’.
I then got the card the TalkTalk man gave me and entered the Network Name TalkTalk***** l then carefully entered the password that is printed on the card and on the back of my router. It stated, it wasn’t recognised!
I went on settings again where it stated l wasn’t connected to the internet and it came on automatically.

I then tried to log onto OFF but it came up with something like, This site is not secure, someone could steal … l can’t remember the rest
I logged in again ok, wrote a post and logged out. A short time after, l went to log in again and l was already logged in even though l had not long before, logged out.

I am now beginning to feel that you must all think l am crackers but l swear l am completely sane…l think!

It’s going funny again. I have taken pics of the captions that have come up…

The same as the top one.

JBR, The engineer seemed a nice man. He said, to see how it goes and TalkTalk will be ringing me tomorrow to see how things are going.

I think, they feel now that l have a new faster router, the problem will be solved.

That’s fair enough, then. It sounds like they are willing to help you with any problems.

There are so many problems with internet connection. Mine sometimes drops for a short time, but then comes back on.

Your messages may suggest some security matters in your computer rather than the router. Do you have internet security, such as Windows Defender or other antivirus software?

These are nothing to do with the router but more to do with whether the site is http:// or https://

Are you sure that your bookmark doesn’t have the URL stored as http://www.over50sforum.com/ rather than https://www.over50sforum.com/ (though the web site should automatically change it)

What ever the problem I don’t think that is a router problem.

Thank You  Bruce.
I have just looked and it is on http: and not https:. I didn’t know, l just saved it as a bookmark when l got my iPad four years ago. I have now changed it.

Should l be checking all my bookmarks and adjusting them to https, if they are http?

So it’s not to do with the router? Is it just a coincidence that the internet would stop working and those captions would appear?
