See, the RX-8 is great for getting from A to B, but a bit risky getting back from B to A.
I call the RX-8 the death car, Number 1. It has suicide doors, Number 2. Your wallet commits Hari Kari.
Tipin, Is a RX-8 a bit like a Ford Cosworth?
A friend of mine, years ago, had a Cosworth but it was stolen from outside his workplace!
Cosworths were always being stolen in those days!
Touch wood, mine isn’t showing any signs(yet)of the hot/cold starting problems and the compression test shows very good figures.
I am, however, in the realms(50-80,000 miles)of engine rebuilds, it having covered 53,000mls.
It took me 18 months plus to find an exceptional one…with a bit of luck…
In what way…as in a target for thieves, looks or performance?
Cosworths came in various models…Sierra(Whale Tail)Escort and Saphire.
There are many cars, which are great to own from new, great concepts, great performance etc, by the time they get to forth ownership, or so, they are trouble, respect if you took the time (and paid the price) to seek out a good example.
Christ sake. A Rover 75 beats all.
It was a car I’d always wanted since its introduction in 03.
Back then I couldn’t justify the running costs.
Now, as I don’t do that many miles it’s a little more acceptable though still very costly…
I meant in Performance, similar engines and sought after in their time.
If you say it enough times you’ll believe it.
Joking apart, they’re a lot of car for little money.
Round here, there is a spate of number plates being unscrewed and nicked.
Even when the cars are parked on people’s driveways.
There were 4 on one night earlier this week, along with work vans being broken into.
(Oh - was that off topic)?
I’ve had many Turbo Charged screamers, but am still convinced, there is no substitute for CCs, the BM ain’t no quicker 0-60, but, at illegal speeds, it will go forever, without any drama.
They’re certainly a car for the enthusiast(stoopid)
Nothing about them makes owning one any sense.
BUT, they’re fast and fun with great road manners.
I can’t stop grinning from the minute I get in it
I had an M3…loved that car.
I just read about their ‘suicide doors’, they are no laughing matter!!
That’s to clone another…ANPR cameras show them as insured and taxed
They’re so cool…the car would be a two seater otherwise.
Jeremy Clarkson loved the RX-8’s doors.
I had an MX5, the thing that struck me about it was, it was a low mileage good provenance model, but when you sprung the bonnet, the alloy the rocker cover was made from was badly pitted, also, every nut and bolt was corroded, this sort of stuff did not suggest quality.
The MX-5 should be better than that…they’ve had enough time to iron out faults…it being a best seller and many thousands been built.
we now have motoring section so lets use it
