As promised, a report back:

I finished my morning gardening session. So, I decided to take the plunge and try out the Marmite!

I opted for hot buttered toast. I managed three bites. Guys, I’m sorry but it’s really not good. It’s not even salty, it just tastes like Nutella gone wrong.

I couldn’t eat any further. I’m sorry. I hate wasting food. :disappointed:

Thanks for the report. Sorry it didn’t go well. I’m trying to imagine what Nutella gone wrong tastes like. Does it taste like something rancid?

Whoa, that’s a LOT you put on there. From what I’ve seen online, they put the tiniest layer.

This is for vegemite, but i would think it’s the same. Jimmy Fallon said the same thing as you about the bad Nutella until Hugh Jackman showed him how to do it.

 I did lay it on thickly and used a butter spread. I’ll try again with stale bread and butter and just the tiniest layer…

Blimey!! That’s not butter, it is margarine or some such rubbish, and you used too much Marmite. Just a thin smear is needed and real butter, not man-made - yuk. :expressionless:

Ah, that explains it. Thank you.

Love marmite on toast, not so keen on it in a sandwich.
Does add something if added to stew, gravy or chillie :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ll definitely try REAL butter. I have both manmade yuck and pure butter goodness

Sorry, I’m a bit full-on at times but I’m a real butter fan, especially
Lurpak.
I’m told man-made spreads are indestructible, that - for me, puts it on par with nuclear reactors… :upside_down_face:

You’ve got to love the bread & the butter before adding the Marmite … sparingly.

I grew up with marmite sandwiches, a little butter and then marmite. My kids hate it but I ate it since a baby. I took them to school kids would go eww lol… However, I also had dripping sandwiches too. Does any one know what a dripping sandwich is ?

Oh and let us not forget Marmite and peanut butter yummy…

I like the taste, but the hidden MSG upsets my heart rhythm so it’s now a no-no for me👎

Yes, I definitely do know. I used to have them as a youngster, the dripping was what was left after meat was roasted. There was the more solid, white dripping and then also the darker coloured, more liquid dripping. There was less of that but it tasted even better than the white as it was less greasy. Both very good for protection against the cold in winter. That’s what I was told anyway and it doesn’t seem to have done me any harm.
