I haven’t had jellied eels for probably half a century but I vaguely remember I quite liked them.
In all honesty I’ve never been brave enough to try it
To me it looks very unappealing, each to their own of course. Smoked eel are an entirely different matter!

Oh no, just the sight of that!
I’ve never wanted to try eel, I’ve heard that it can be very tasty in many dishes and I believe this but the thought of the “snaky shape” of it just gives me the shivers. 
It’s very popular in the Naples area on Christmas Eve when it’s tradition to eat many fishes dishes for the big Christmas Eve dinner. They use various recipes but not jellied. We also eat fish dishes on that day but never eel.

Naples is always somewhere I’ve wanted to visit Rose, not to mention Sicily. I imagine you’ve been to both? I’m sure the seafood is something special!

Can you still get oysters in the Thames?
Yes, Naples is special, you have to be there to feel the magic of this city, I don’t go often unfortunately, train and bus connections are terrible in our areas and going by car is definitely a no-no. Impossible to find parking and impossible to dodge that traffic unless you’ve had a lot of experience driving funfair bumper cars! 
The seafood is great yes, the famous “spaghetti with fresh clams” ,“mixed fried fish” and also the pizza. 
I’ve only visited a couple of places in Sicily. Apart from many gastronomical delights , their desserts are heavenly. My daughter is there at the moment for a weekend break with colleagues, sending me pictures of all the delicacies she’s trying out.

You can certainly get them on the South Coast
Never again - couldn’t swallow, had to discreetly spit it into the nearest bin and hope that nobody noticed, which was rather unlikely on a busy summer’s day in Brighton!
