When it comes to food, what do you find inedible?

Tinned kippers aren’t so shoddy… great for camping although not exactly kedgeree .

I read about it. Australia was not included when I listed “our countries”… :innocent:

I won’t eat ostrich, :crocodile:, dog, cat, badger or anything exotic in nature…

I am afraid that I do not really understand your post, sorry.
Depending on the source and the method of calculation, in order to produce 1 kilogram of beef you need 6 kilograms of concentrate feed plus around 15000 liters of water. Furthermore during that process a lot of gases are emitted by the cattle plus other unpleasend side affects.

If that is what you meant by “laws of nature have to be adjusted”, I am afraid that it will not help to feed all the people, just the opposite.

There is Kangaroo and Emu and Crocodile meat available here in Australia.
I will not be partaking of those. :slightly_smiling_face:

I did have alligator steak when we were in Georgia USA. It was a bit like prawns.

Cold Chips.

And on the reverse side was chicken feet that were offered to me when I was in Taiwan. I declined.

I’ve tried them all over the years but Kangaroo meat is the only one I would bother with. Even Coles stocks it now.

Sounds like you hopped-ted for it.

But your list only included ONE country which is not really a list, more of a dot point.

Food is simply fuel, without it the engine stop Im afraid, i doubt it will ever be replaced by a pill, and wouldnt it be nice if we could harvest all that gas from cows and sheep…

Don’t start quoting me figures about what it takes to rear cattle and the pollution they create…
Did you know that the fashion industry uses more water than any other industrial process.
And how much pollution is created by the manufacturing one Electric vehicle or it’s battery, when most people were quite happy managing with their petrol or diesel motor. How much CO2 do you think there is in the atmosphere? How much do you think it has risen over the last 100 years…? Well I’ll tell you…there is 0.038 % of CO2 in our atmosphere, and it has risen to just over 0.04% in the last 100 years. How much Methane do you think is contained in our atmosphere? And what do you think are by far the biggest producers?
This much…Quote:-
Methane is an important trace gas in Earth’s atmosphere. Even though it only makes up 0.00017% (1.7 parts per million by volume) of the the atmosphere, methane traps a significant amount of heat, helping the planet remain warm and habitable.
Helping the planet remain warm and habitable So actually the cows are helping to keep our planet habitable! And the main producer of Methane, are the trillions of tons of decaying matter as the earth cleans up and recycles this important gas…
The biggest cause of damage to this planet is you my friend…Because unlike the cows, you require smartphones and other electronic devices, vehicles, a warm house with a good supply of water and energy, a change of clothes every day, and food, sourced and transported from all over the world. So don’t tell me that cows are damaging this planet!

Ok, you have a point here. To save my argument, I just mentioned a “list” of countries (“our countries”) and gave just one example.

Seems to be common practice, like “in some countries in Europe there is a speed limit, e. G. italy”.
It seems that you live in Australia. of course there one finds types of animals who could eat humans.

I’ve tried kangaroo once, it was back in the 70’s and I have no idea where my mum had sourced it from but it was pretty decent as I remember, very rich flavoursome meat as I recall.

If it was affordable over here I’d certainly have some in the freezer.

Hello OldGreyFox,
I sincerely do not know what of my post about 6kg wheat vs. 1kg beef has upset you so much that you start whatabouting about fahion industry and order me not to do/say/write things to you or call me “my friend” or claim that “I” am the problem (not the cows).

As a foreign guest in this forum I have always tried to be polite and respectful, knowing that that my lack of English skills means leaning out of the window while participating in discussions on an English (politics) forum.
It seems that I have failed miserably trying to achieve that and I have to apologize if my post(s) has/have offended you. Maybe it is time to draw back from this place if I am being misunderstood that much.

What I really wanted to point out in my post about beef is, that cows have no “magical” properties. They cannot invent or create more food than you feed them with.
On the other hand the space to grow and harvest wheat or other cattle-food is limited and will become smaller over the next decades, due to climate change. Now if you need 6 calories (from plants) to create 1 calorie (from beef) it does not seem resonable to me to assume that more cattle is needed to feed more people. This and only this is/was my point and I did not - by any means - suggest, that there are no other or even greater problems than that.

Please let me know if I could make my point understandable.

Your English skills are fantastic as a second language.

I enjoy your contributions and hope to see you on the forum in the future. Danke.

Surely you’re taking the michael here?
Petrol & diesel engines are good for the environment. Producing meat is actually not inefficient compared to simply eating the cereal used to feed animals. Fashion is bad and will kill us all. Modern technology is killing the planet. Warming your house and having water supplied to that house is the wrong life-style choice.
Summed up like that what you say is so funny that it must be a p take. Thanks for making me laugh.
