I started watching Madmen today, I remember enjoying it first time round, all 100 episodes, about 10 years ago. I loved to see the first episode again, but don’t think I’ll stick with it.
I quite enjoyed watching Madmen, but I don’t think I’d want to see it again.
It was really weird watching Handmaid’s Tale after that, with the actress who played Peggy - Elizabeth Moss - playing a completely different part. I wouldn’t want to watch that one again, much too disturbing!
I’ve been watching it again and amazed on what I missed the first time around. It’s such a classic show, beautifully directed and staged.
Handmaid’s tale went completely off piste vs the original book. The film starring Miranda Richardson was far closer to the story (albeit romanticized by Hollywood). The series was just silly in some of the artistic licence.
You have to wonder how much art influences life though, it seems to have spawned a disturbing movement to make oppressing women more fashionable.
On a separate topic Netflix is now talking about increasing their tariffs. Is it worth staying with them full time or dipping in and out when something good is launched?
I felt that way about White Lotus - incredibly well written and entertaining, but not exactly soothing to the soul.
I haven’t seen that one, but maybe I don’t want to?
In my desperate search for a new series to follow I have started “Lost” however the apparent supernatural element (??) might make me stop. I have only watched the first episode so not sure whether the basic story can sustain long term viewing.
Has anybody else watched this?
I still have your recommendations above up my sleeve
@Bruce , I’ve seen this, all the series. I recommend it, it’s a well-made series, very good interpretation, excellent direction, even though there were times when it was really getting out of hand. The storyline may seem absurd,I must admit that at the beginning, I nearly gave up, thinking it was just too crazy to watch, but then I got hooked! I’m actually thinking of seeing it again. It remains one of my favourites. I don’t usually go for “weird stuff” , this is an exception for me, so if I enjoyed it, anyone will. It really “gets” you, if you know what I mean. It was like reading a book and not being able to put it down, I couldn’t wait for the next episode, I watched 2 at a time and had to limit myself from binge watching.
Yes, good one. True story films are usually very well done.

I enjoyed it .
I remember this when it came out. People were addicted. But the story just got sillier and sillier as the seasons went on.
I am also watching Black Doves.
I finished the thrillers “full me once” which I loved and “the black list”.
Also watched Parenthood which I really enjoyed.
Black Doves: as @AnnieS says … it gets sillier.
Harlan Coben’s Fool Me Once … Yep, that’s pretty good
The Black List … not on Netflix here in UK
Parenthood … hmmmmm
I’m hooked on Parenthood at the moment . Love it, easy viewing, great for relaxing in the evening.
I have just started the second series of Night Agent, if nothing else the first 10 minutes were packed full of action. I remember enjoying the first series.
I remember enjoying the first series. Will take a look.
