I would be very tempted to buy a house/flat in either Broome or Darwin and spend the winter (dry season) there

Yes I am or rather was, circumstances have not really allowed me to indulge but I really must get down to coast for a few fishing trips this summer, it would be a real tonic:slightly_smiling_face::+1:

I’d fix my health issues by going private for the couple of operations I need, and should have had by now. :rage:

Operations are so expensive. Being able to afford adequate insurance is a real issue for many, many people.
I would get myself full dental implants, top and bottom if money was not an issue. Right now, the cost is AU$60,000

To be honest, money is no object… :009:
But don’t get the wrong impression. I don’t have a lot of the stuff but I’m a very content sort of a guy and there is really nothing that I want or need.
I’ve got enough to travel to any country in the world, or take a world cruise if I wanted.
Any changes to my life don’t need money to do them, just some balls.
If I won lots of money I’d give most of it to my daughter and her husband.

I paid $2500 for a procedure in a private hospital recently, I got something like $800 back from Medicare. About $1000 of the cost was the hospital operating theatre cost which Medicare doesn’t cover (because it was a private hospital).

The advantage for me was that I saw the specialist on the Wednesday and had the procedure the next Tuesday, if I had waited for a public hospital it could have taken up to three weeks before it was done because it wasn’t life threatening.

I paid a couple of grand to see a private cardiologist during covid, I suspected there was something wrong with my heart and didn’t want to burden the NHS during the covid epidemic.
After finding out what the problem was he referred me to the NHS because the cost would have been eye watering to continue with private treatment…The NHS have since looked after me very well indeed, and I’m still here…
