Local radio is running a phone in this morning asking if you were king or queen for the day what one thing would you permanently ban? There have been many strange suggestions - marmite, Christmas ads, and one I agree with - the use of mobile phones whilst walking on a public footpath!
Interesting. My current bug-bear is people who use mobile phones in cafeās and decide to have a conversation or watch a video on speaker, and everyone gets to hear it if they want to or not.
I will also add cyclists who refuse to use cycle lanes, especially on busy roads, despite the huge amount of money spent on them.
Motorists who park their cars half on the pavement leaving very little space on the footpath for people with small children trying to negotiate them plus a pushchair past without getting onto the road; they are also a hazard for people in wheelchairs. Often the roads are wide enough for parking without using the pavement and if they arenāt then donāt park there! I had always thought it was illegal to park on the pavement but there is so much of it going on in our village that I think I must be mistaken.
Fireworks on sale to anyone, no general public sales, properly organised firework displays only & on specified days too. I am fed up with fireworks being let off days before & after November 5th & all over New Year. Better still make them all silent. The poor wildlife & pets must get terrified.
I just live with or overcome these things without bursting a blood vessel but since the question is askedā¦
Those who tread chewing gum into paved areas.
Cyclists who ride in shopping precincts taking no notice of the āNo Cyclingā signs.
Pedestrians walking on cycle-paths.
Adult cyclists riding on footpaths.
Cars parking two wheels up on the footpaths (more like two wheels down on the road).
Cars parking across dropped kerbs.
Loud music from cars with the window wound down.
I would have said that snidey, smug, grossly overpaid asshole Gary Lineker. But oh joy, just read heās to leave Match of the Day! So, Iāll have another. Tomasz Schafernaker, weather forecaster. He gets on my tits just like Lineker!
The banishment of anything should only be in the name of the good for society as a whole, many things annoy us, but are enjoyed by many others, pick your battles.
Just because the question is asked and knowing thereās not the slightest chance of it being implemented: Any activity releasing CO2 into the atmosphere and which is done for one reason only, because itās fun.
The OP made me laugh - cos if I was the Queen of this country, I wouldnāt have the power to ban anything!
However, Iāll go with the flow and assume I had such power -
I would ban the Negs - nothing brings a person, a group or a country down more than Negativity.
Iāve had my fill of negative folk who pour cold water on any suggestion - those cynical, negative folk who drip poison onto every attempt by well-meaning people to make things better.
It is so easy to criticise but more difficult to come up with constructive ideas.
Iāve encountered āNegsā in the workplace many times, in private industry, in local government and in charity committees - and I see them all the time in Forum discussions, especially in discussions about politics and social welfare.
