What have you done today?

So beautiful. Thanks for sharing . :grinning:

Today I went for a swim then met a friend for a trip planning and preparation meet which ended in a Taiwanese restaurant. That was really good.

Great photos Bruce, beautiful place, and you’ve got good weather as well…

I wish, flood warnings until Monday!

Lets hope they’re not serious Bruce.

The ground is still saturated so the water has nowhere to go. The forecast is pretty dramatic. This year’s rainfall for Sydney is nearing the 1950 record with 82mm to go and three months left in the year.

That sounds a bit dire Bruce, lets hope it doesn’t turn out as bad as forecast.
I was born in 1950 Bruce…
It’s chucking it down here at the moment with strong winds. I think storm Ian made it across the Atlantic from Florida. To think we were all praying for rain and basking in the high 20’s C just one month ago. It’s like someone has just flicked a switch and turned summer off…
I only just managed to get my walk/jog done before it started.
So that’s gardening postponed

Hi

Had my daily weigh, this was after breakfast rather than before and I have lost another 0,6 kilo

I love Edinburgh! I lived there for four years as a student. Myself and my friend walked all over the city including Arthur’s Seat. Later I had regular visits on business trips. Then my elder daughter attended The University of Edinburgh so I was able to see her regularly at that time.

Boiler now repaired, and my trip to a medical clinic has unequivocably confirmed my condition as type 2 achalasia. Hopefully the medics can start forging a plan of what to do about it.

I hope you get it resolved asap.

Me too! If I had the money I would certainly live there. I love the Old Town more than the new, I have to say…and Arthurs Seat, and the Crags are amazing. My daughter is studying there too and about to graduate, but she wouldn’t live anywhere else either. It gets a bit “touristy” of course, but its a wonderful place.

this evening decided to test out all my remote wireless gear ie camera shutter trigger transmitters and receivers, also the same for the flash guns. It is quite a setup but fun to use if it all works
I don’t need 2 remoted wireless camera shutter triggers but came in the kits. had a problem with one of them, the spring which inside that pushes the aaa battery to the contact the other end had collapsed. So off to the workshop to strip it down and stretch the offending spring, now it works ok. so tomorrow a full test for both flashguns to work and also 2 cameras from the press of one button, can’t be bothred to try at the moment

test with repaired wireless camera trigger receiver

trigger button ih hand transmits to camera receiver amd also camera to flash control trigger. Oh I was in another room when I took this shot

Scotland in general but then I would say that! My wife and I got married over the anvil at Gretna Green. Then we moved to Fife for a while. It was Culross where we lived and was it the best kept village in Fife.

I digress…

I have been up to scotland twice before I got married . Firstr tme stayed in Ruthrglen at the Mill house hotel and the second time camped in a farmer field below the campsie hills. ooh the stories I could tell about both times ,for example we asked the farmer if we could pitch a ent in his field and let us do so in one of the smaller section with bracken water stream. when we left we offered him some money for letting us stay (he checked we had not left any mess). You should have seen his face when we offered to pay ,mainly i think he was a bit embarressed to tell the truth

oh yes we found he Scottish people, this was way back in the1960’s, so nice when we went up there. Local village copper very early one morning when we crossed the border and waiting for the cafe open, he went and woke up the cafe owner for us and opened up so we had something to eat having travelled up overnight from London
I have told this story before so bear with me if you remember it.
One of the trips to Scotland pal and I stayed at the Mill house hotel in Rutherglen. we signed in and my mate Ggraham (later to be my best man at our wedding), asked if there was a phone he could use.
It as only about 10 minutes later 2 girls we knew for down south came into the hotel . One was a cousin living in Scotland and the other from where we lived down south.
The barman pulled me to one side and said something like " I thought we Scots we quick for female company but this beats everything, 10 minutes and female company " I hadn’t had the heart to tell him it was all arrange down south earlier. This was well before Sue and I started going out together and she knows the story anyway I guess. Also we knew another scottish lad and went to his local pub.
taking to the barman the lad said we had come up to see the lolcal Celtic/Rangers football match. tickets selling way above legit price but the barman produce 2 tickets from under the bar and gave them to us free wioth the words Have a great ay or similar
so Graham and I went ot the match 20,000 crowd back then all chanting songs against the other side , amazing atmosphere never to be forgotten

OH yes many stories about our Scottish trips fondly remembered. Even putting the car on a ferry to go to Sky, no bridge back then
what have i done today? spent a bit of time writing the above
