Today, I have done a major cutting back of the honeysuckle and winter jasmine climbing up the trellis, so I could put in some new fence posts to replace the posts which were damaged by the last lot of gale force winds.
Some of those honeysuckle stems were as thick as my wrists!
After fixing in the new fence posts, I took the masses of climber cuttings to the local tip, in a couple of journeys, then I mowed both the lawns, before collapsing in an exhausted heap on a comfy bench in the early evening sunshine with a reviving Gin & Tonic!
Phew!
Potted on some cosmos and moved things around in my small greenhouse, put the calandula outside theyāre hardy so theyāll be alright and put the cosmos in their place.
Finally got rid of the old forged steel gate thatās been lying along side the garage since we had a wooden gate installed. A scrapper showed up in our cul-de-sac this morning blaring his trumpet so I rushed out, slowly, and called him over. He took it away for us.
Hardly anything I intended to do!
I had 2 visitors coming late morning, so was indoors cleaning and polishing. What a waste of all that glorious sunshine!
This afternoon I managed to get a bit more weeding done, then pruned the Salvias and Fuchsias, and fed and watered about 16 of the pots and tubs.
Tomorrow i hope to start my Dahlias off in pots, then begin tipping my lovely Agapanthus out of their tubs and dividing them.
I planted three hanging baskets and a few tubs also a pyramid of Sweet peasā¦planted a Red Robin and a clematisā¦
A busy day today if I get chance I want to create a new flower bedā¦that might not happen though as all the family are here tomorrow so have other things to do
Yes, I did potter too. A bit of weeding. Earlier we strolled the dogs then we to the convince storeā¦ Lunch and another stroll on on The Roman Rig. Then I sat down with a Scrumpy. .
Finally got 11 Dahlias started in pots today. Some were already starting to shoot, but others looked a bit dubious with not a shoot in sight. Weāll see what happens now they are fed and watered.
Hoping to start on the Agapanthus tomorrow. Think Iāve got about 11 or 12 pots to tip out and divide so that should keep me quiet for a while.
Got the sit on mower out only to discover a flat tyre. After cursing and swearing for an hour while the batteries charged I spent the next two hours pushing the hand mower around. The grass filled two wheelie bins. The next hour was spent watching the grass re-growing. Pointless exercise? Probably.
Potted on some more cosmos got 50 plants so that should be enough. Got some small ones left Iām going to grow them on and give them to my friend. Also did some weeding, hubby cut off a few branches from the plum tree but itās slowly dying.
