What happens in old age

Simple. It is being able to say " I used to be able to do that", providing one remembers what it was in the first place.

…and knowing you are one of the lucky ones just getting to say it.

I don’t know about wisdom coming with age but I’ve become more aware of what a lottery life is.Where and when you are born makes all the difference. :grinning:

Can’t see what where or when has to do with it, to whom maybe

You end up in the departure lounge.

You Remember In detail.
Names and experiences of Decades ago.
Yet. Can’t Remember. If you put the Bins Out. Yesterday.

I think I’ll have a glass of champagne while I wait.

You end up talking to yourself and then realise you wasn’t listening, so you have to repeat everything back.

You gain wisdom with age, but realize you don’t have to use it when interacting with younger folk.

You Realise. Out of the Eyes Ears and Voice of Teenyboppers.
You are Best Known.
Ignore at your peril.

If you’ve ever had and raised children, you know it starts long before you reach “old age”, usually by the time they (your children) reach their teens, they know absolutely everything. If only they were that smart in school

At the point a close friend gets a serious and possibly terminal illness - then you realise live now, live as fully as you can and bo**ocks to anything else. Spend your money on things that give you pleasure. You only live once.
But at the same time plan and save for those years of the time of old age problems. My mother had to be in a retirement home for about 3 years. That cost her 3 x ÂŁ75k. It was an excellent home that provided great care.
So I’m now torn. Spend now to enjoy as much as I can … or retain funds for those twilight years. When I will be properly a pain in the proverbial to everyone.

Just remember those ladies on the Titanic who turned away the dessert trolley after dinner for fear of putting on weight…

We are looking after my BH’s parents.Thursday we took her father out for tests at the local hospital,it took a lot of the afternoon.Yesterday morning he asked what time were we going for the tests. He had made quite an effort that day but had forgotten all about it.

I am at the age where my mind thinks I am still 21, my sense of humour suggests I am 12 whilst my body keeps asking if I am sure I’m not dead yet!
