What books are you reading now?

I too found Peter James a good read. At the moment I have two books on the go as they are both a bit light weight. Mrs. Fry’s Diary by the genius Stephen Fry and Further Under the Duvet by Marian Keyes. Both very chucklesome but insightful as well. I have just finished The Cardamom Club by John Stock anyone interested in India would enjoy.

I’m re-reading Stephen King’s The Stand. I read the original years ago when it first came out and have forgotten 99% of the story line; I was pleasantly surprised to find the reissued edition has had a lot of extra material added … it’s now over 14,000 pages; I do love a good long read! I recommend it highly, either as a first time or a re-read.

Have read those Marian Keyes books, read Rachels Holiday and it was very funny. Went into WH SMiths yesterday on one of my toilet stops going to Preston and bought Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Linda La Plants new one, I never get to Smiths and have a problem with Library books, have to wear gloves as I dont know where they have been and who has read them and what were they doing with there hands!Used to wipe the childrens books with a cloth soaked in disinfectant in case of germs, God life is very hard, do you think being called jackson has anything to do with it!

Annie I feel for you, books are expensive and I read so many. Maybe a Kindle would be the thing for you as you can download some freebies too.

And not just freebies but lots of 99¢ books also!

My son got me a present of a Sony Reader for my recent birthday and I’m thrilled with it, very easy on the eyes and great in bed. He also put 20 Agatha Christie books on it, knowing I’m a great fan of her mysteries, and no matter how many times I read them I can never remember the endings. The trouble now is I’m spoilt for choice, I have to choose between reading my reader, listening to an audio book, or watch an old horror film on the upstairs TV. My Daughter got me a couple of DVD’s with the five classic Boris Karloff Frankenstein films of the 30’s remastered, beautiful clarity and sound, a joy to watch. That’s it!, I’ll have the Bride of Frankenstein in bed tonight!. (hope he doesn’t mind)

Wow, Jem, you haven’t any excuse to ever say you’re bored with all the choice of entertainment you have! Where do you get books for the Sony reader from?

I’ll ask him the next time he comes over Eileen, he already had them on it when he came over with it and set it up for me. He’s computer mad, I think he has 2 second hand Macs along with the new one he got last year, he’s on a 2 year course now learning the advanced stuff and he’s starting to repair them for folks now.

Just read a book by Susan Abulhawa “Mornings in Jenin” and really recommend it.

Still on The Stand. A lovely LONG read!

My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. I can’t put it down although I don’t want it to end.

I have the new Jodi Picoult on the Kindle, but still finishing Wilbur Smith’s Assegai… excellent read, as are all of his.

I too love Mr Smith’s books. Just been to the library with The Brethren by John Grisham seems familiar but I am looking forward to reading it.

Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. As with all of hers, I love it!

I have already read The Tenth Circle and am now finishing My Sister’s Keeper. I try to get them from the library but her books just fly off the shelves and are always on order.

Same here Cookiecate. At my last visit, I had the choice of this and My Sister’s Keeper, which I’ve read too. Have you enjoyed it? I think Change of Heart is my favourite so far, but then I think I say that with each one, as I finish it

I’m enjoying My Sister’s Keeper now;she’s an excellent storyteller.

I am enjoying 'My Sister’s Keeper and love the little side story of the Service Dog Judge. Jodi Picoult is indeed a very clever lady who not only makes you smile even when there is sadness but also makes you think out of your usual safety zone.

Just finished reading “The Poison Tree” by Erin Kelly. This is her first novel and is very good.
