I’m reading Christmas recipes to see if I can come up with something new! ;-)
I’m reading The Payback by Simon kernick lot’s of mystery and dead bodies
I don’t think Wilbur Smith’s Assegai is as good as some of his others. I find the emphasis on big game hunting a bit distasteful from the modern viewpoint, and injecting real, historical figures such as the Roosevelts pere and fils in a novel and imagining dialogue is chancy and not really all that effective… just a thought.
Computeractive Magazine.;-):-D:-D;-)
Wilbur Smith is my husband’s favourite author, he has read quite a few of his books and really enjoys them.
This is my 6th one, Mags, and the only one I don’t especially care for. Have two more waiting.
I mentioned this on the football fans thread, an early christmas present.
The title? well boringly enough and I can already hear the groans, this is from the,
When Football Was Football series.
This one is called.
When Football Was Football: West Ham: A Nostalgic Look at a Century of the Club.
Compiled/written by Iain Dale a political blogger, broadcaster, writer and above all, a fan.
It covers the period 1895-1994. and has many hitherto unseen photos which have been of great interest to me especially as I recognised a lot of them. Despite a couple of captioning errors it is a wonderful piece of footballing history and I can comfortably get transported back to the past which I daresay many will think is the best place for me.
Excellent.
Hammer, try Phil Whalley’s Accrington Stanley, The club that would’n’t die, if you want some real football Nostalgia.
I just started the third novel in a trilogy by Douglas E. Richards called “The Prometheous Project”. I’ve enjoyed the first two and am interested in continuing the plot.
I tend to read sci-fi series if I can find a good author. My last one was 5 books long in the “Powerless” series by Jason Letts.
Thanks AB but it is still a bit pricey to buy.
I have been on the Crown ground a couple of times and enjoyed the visits. The manager is a true gent, as far as real nostalgia goes, many in the town still see it as there being at least two distinct clubs.
I will certainly have to look it all up as it could be very interesting, thanks.
Just starting to read Stephen King’s ‘Bag of Bones’. I see that they’ve just released a TV Mini Series in USA.
Finished Assegai, now re-reading John Buchan’s Greenmantle on Kindle.
Just finished reading “Miss Peregrines’s Home For Peculiar Children” by Ransom Riggs - a weird story, but I stuck with it.
Now reading “Cider with Rosie”- Laurie Lee. Picked this up because I had to read it in school and didn’t really get into it. I now know why
The Silmarillion, J.R.R. Tolkien
Travels with Charley - John Steinbeck, my favourite author.
Karin Slaughter’s Blindsighted. I have only just started to read novels by this author and I found this last one quite disturbing. I’m not sure if I will read anymore of her books.
The Good Husband of Zebra Drive - Alexander McCall Smith
(The No.1 Ladies’ Detective Agency)
I do hope the BBC do another series…good light-hearted drama.
Reading The Mill on the Floss free on Kindle
I know what a Kindle is for now. I have read several books in the past months which were heavy and thick a Kindle would have been great. Just reading another thick and heavy book by Jodi Picoult Change of Heart
Reading ‘Just Take My Heart’ by Mary Higgins Clark. Not really impressed but I will see it through until the end.
