What book are you reading now?

I am at the end of my current read and now have to decide between Goethe’s Faust Part One or The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. I am leaning toward Faust.

I e just started that too having problems with it though my kindle app keeps telling me my version isn’t supported on my device and to download it again. I’m going to get in touch with Amazon later the bit I e read I was very much enjoying.

Now I’ve got it properly downloaded I really recommend apple tree yard I’m about a third from the end and can’t put it down, brilliant book. I can’t see how they made it into a to show though as most of it is her thoughts ?

Told you!!!
I’ll be interested to hear what you think about the ending, not the TV one!

I didn’t see the to one so it’ll have to be the book

I am reading the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time by Mark Haddon

Ravenspur, latest of Conn Igguldens War of the Roses series.

Finished a Sam Hayes (now known as Samantha Hayes) yesterday, and the next one will be…(goes to look)…

Down among the dead men by Kerry Wilkinson.

If no good will go to the next one (all from library).

“Seven Pillars of Wisdom”. Lawrence of Arabia’s account of the Arab Revolt against the Turks in WW1, (as if you didn’t know). Two things especially stand out; (1) The ability of a short, lightweight Englishman raised in Wales to endure the almost unimaginable hardships of life in the desert and indeed to accomplish what he did under those hardships, and (2) the extremely enlightening descriptions of Arab life and culture in those times. What Lawrence tells of the Arab culture actually gives a very useful perspective on current events.

Finished it about 1am couldn’t put it down ! Oh my I wasn’t expecting that ! But won’t reveal it in case others want to read it and don’t want it spoiled.

But brilliant ending as I said didn’t expect that at all.

I agree, and why the TV version had to muck about and alter the ending is baffling, the book makes far more sense in my opinion!

I didn’t see the show so can’t comment, it was such a good ending I wonder why they changed it ?

Yesterday I started the new Sophie Kinsella (My Not So Perfect Life). By the time I went to bed around 10.30 I’d reached page 210.

I so want 40 winks but might pick up the book now…

puts Do Not Disturb sign up

I’ve not read any of her books, Jazzi…Which one would you recommend as a taster to her style?

Shaun Ellis - The Man Who Lives With Wolves. Fascinating insight into these wonderful creatures, but totally bonkers bloke.

1984 George Orwell never read it before decided it’s time to see what this famous book is all about.

Just watched the tv series, the book was brilliant the ending of the tv series ? Such a shame the messed about with it. Yet again a book better than a show or film.

Oh I’m so pleased you agree!

I started from the beginning, the Shopaholic series. Sometime I felt frustrated at the character’s habits, but they are all well written, and I think only one or two of her latest books (not from the series) bored me, or I couldn’t get into them.

Thanks Jazzi, might download the first one to my Kindle and give it a go
