What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Hazel darlin’ - just take butcher’s hook at what prices will be charged in East London later this year.

Spectators will have to put up with high prices for food and drink for the Olympic Games in London, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

The paper has collated the cost of basic items on sale at the Olympic park, and reveal that a basic lunch on a family day out could cost as much as £40.

With airport-style security in place there will be no scope for fans to bring their own drinks into the site, while a 500ml bottle of mineral water cost £1.60 at the weekend’s test event. It will be possible to bring empty water bottles, however, and fill them up at taps around the park for free.

Bringing your own food to an event, by contrast, will be permitted, but organisers have reserved the right to confiscate ‘excessive food’.

The Mail said that a spokesman indicated that meant picnic hampers or cool boxes were “likely to be an issue”.

With the restrictions on food and drink, spectators will have to brace themselves for considerable additional expenses during the day out.

A spokesman for Games organisers Locog told the paper: “We have gone to considerable lengths to find great tasting, top quality food, setting new benchmark standards for the industry.

“This includes snacks from £1, sandwiches from under £4 and jacket potatoes from just over £5.”

I love rhubarb and ginger (where did you say you lived) the nuns used to make rhubarb and ginger jam, gorgeous.

Rhubarb crumble caramelised with dark muscavado sugar, Cinnamon, mixed spice and allspice served warm with vanilla custard. Yuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmm

I will refrain from swearing as I’m sure it’s not allowed but #@c*ing 'eck I’m glad I’m not bothering.

we are out for dinner this evening, making the most of my few days off work:-)

Reindeer or Crocodile steaks Kitty darlin’ ???

Fingers crossed this is the last day :038: of workmen in the kitchen. So tonight I’m cooking fish pie and veg. Proper food for a change…no more ‘ding dinners’

neither Uncle Joe  going to have a nice fillet steak if its on the menu

Impala, Kangaroo, Kudu, Ostrich or Wildebeeste would make a delightful and very tasty alternative to beef Kitty darlin’

Roast vegetable lasagne with a salad,
and for pud home made damson jelly

I made a chicken, leek and mushroom pie for lunch using the leftover chicken from yesterday, and served it with mash, carrots, broccoli and gravy, it was absolutely scrummy and we have six portions left to go in the freezer, happy days…

back to work today so had a salad roll and some fruit didn’t feel like cooking.

Kitty darlin’ - that’s not enough to keep a fly alive!!! - need something far more substantial than that. Sandwiches are ok for quickness and if you’re not in the mood for cooking - have a look at the ‘fillings’ topic for something to slap between two bread vans!!!

I had a spicy lentil soup for lunch. For our evening meal it will be Spag Bol. made with turkey breast, which I will mince, I don’t trust any kind of minced meats, I like to know what I’m eating. The sauce will be home made, using passata as a base.

I’m a happy bunny!!! - Last year Iceland took off their ‘Oriental veg’ stir fry. Some weeks ago they also stopped selling bags of skinless chicken breasts. I went into Iceland this morning and Lo and behold!!! both items were back on sale. Next week I’ll be able to cook myself a chicken stir fry with one of the sauces I have in my kitchen cabinet.

When I want mince I use Quorn, as long as you put good flavouring in, like Marmite or Oxo cubes, with plenty of onion, it is lovely…I’m reluctant to use butchers mince too.
Scampi for lunch with melon, pineapple and croissants after.

Trout, chips and peti pwa (baby peas) OK not fish, chips and mushy peas but…

Tomorrow lambs liver fried onions in gravy, mash, cabbage, cauli, frozen peas, followed by rhubarb crumble with home made egg custard.

What time do you want me there, Hazel?

Tonight I’ve had chicken and chicken stock out of the freezer, then put it back. Took out left-over Chinese and put that back. I just didn’t know what I wanted so I’ve ended up with half a stuffed red pepper, rice and a sauce.

any time at all Mollie, know the feeling, when you bought it or made it, it sounded or was wonderful but when you’re hungry it’s not exactly what you fancy in fact nothing is.

That happens to me a lot, so I just wait until I actually fancy something.
