What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Not too keen on rabbit myself, although I don’t mind a little in a game casserole.

When we were children my Dad bred rabbits which were killed for the table, so we acquired quite a taste for them, particularly over the winter when the stewpot was always on the go…

Today for lunch we had broad beans, onions and bacon, on wholemeal toast and drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice, delicious…

Barry - very tasty dish - a bacon joint cooked in a slow cooker with Cider - fabulous!!!

I bought a lovely Ham Shank the other day from the butchers £2.50. It looks huge with loads of meat on it. I’ve put it in the freezer for now but am going to cook it over the weekend in the slow cooker & then make a lovely Pea & Ham soup from the stock & bits of the Ham. It will probably last us a couple of days judging by the amount of meat on it

we had Gammon steaks with mushroom and eggs

Would you have a little plateful for me please? I’ve not made pea and ham soup in the longest time.

Bang went my thoughts for tea today as, after a really hard afternoon at work, I was too tired to cook, so I ended up with baked beans and two slices of buttered bread! :frowning:

Lynne darlin’ - get yourself a bottle of cider and cook the Ham in the cider - I did this several weeks ago - it tasted fabulous!!!

Mollie darlin’ - get yourself a slow cooker, prepare your meal before you go to work, switch ‘on’ just before you leave and it will be ready for you the moment you get home again.

I’ll make sure I save a dish full for you Mollie

thanks UJ. I will get a bottle of Cider tomorrow when I go shopping. It should make tasty soup afterwards anyway

Thanks Lynne. That pea and ham soup was deeeeelish, especially with the crusty bread!

me two chippy

Whilst down the town earlier this morning, have bought a nice piece of belly pork and a bottle of cider. Will cook the pork in cider Saturday night ready for next Sunday’s lunch!!!

Well, I was done out of having a chippy tea on Tuesday with it being closed, but tonight I got fish, mushy peas and a small (?) portion of chips (which was enormous).

Had I put the whole fish on the plate it would have over-lapped and, quite honestly, there was enough to feed two little 'uns like me.

I shall have the rest for tea tomorrow, but I’m wondering which is the best way to re-heat the fish. Definitely not in the microwave.

Mollie darlin’ - heat it in the oven and then slap between two buttered slices of bread and make yourself a fried fish sandwich - honestly it might not sound good, but its delicious!!!

We have been invited out for our evening meal, so I have no idea what is on the menu. I don’t mind though, no cooking for me.

Yesterday, we had steak and chips with mushrooms and peas

Today its roast Chicken, sausage etc, a full sunday roast, not decided what to do on bank holiday monday yet we might go out for a bite to eat.

I’ve never had sausages with chicken before. That’s an interesting idea.

really? we always have sausage with chicken as long as i can remember even as a kid.

It would be interesting to know if anyone else has sausage with chicken

In Tesco they even do a sandwich, although i would not like it
cold

No, honestly. The only time I’ve had sausage with a roast dinner is at Christmas with chipolata wrapped in bacon, to go with turkey.

I couldn’t fancy a chicken and sausage butty though.

well its very tasty Mollie, you should give it a try

but i do agree with you on the butty not something i would try out.
