What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

pity Brighton is so far away and why do frying onions always smell so nice?

:lol::lol::lol: Don’t know Hazel darlin’ but the smell is wonderful!!! - we have an Indian family in a big house on the corner of our street, They eat a lot of home made curries (obviously) and quite often, the smell of the curry or the smell of frying onions wafts out of the window when I walk past on the way to the bus stop - the smell is absolutely fabulous!!!

In the centre of the town we have a street trader with a large caravan stall who makes hot dogs and burgers on site. The bus stops (there are four of them) are opposite this stall and if the wind is in the right direction the smell of frying onions, sausages and burgers fills the air.

What a wonderful picture that paints, can just see you walking along with nose in the air, nostrills twitching, sniffing away. I could just fancy a curry, chicken liver with Chinese curry is my favourite, but we’re having home boiled ham, Jersey pots and cabbage.

Hazel darlin’ I make my own curry with whatever meat is available, usually chicken breasts (chopped into bite sized pieces). Fried in a large frying pan with an onion (also chopped) and several cloves of garlic. Add some frozen mixed veg to the mixture and continue frying for a few minutes. Sauce is made from chicken stock (chicken oxo) and then add the spices, Garam Masala, Cumin, Curry powder. To thicken the sauce I tend to use Cocoanut cream. For the rice, I boil a saucepan of water to which I add some salt. When its boiling, add the rice and 1 tsp Turmeric (this doesn’t flavour the rice but colours it ‘yellow’ to make it more presentable with the curry). Serve with some Mango chutney, a pappadom and/or a naan bread. Delicious!!!

Has nobody eaten for two days?

On Sunday I discovered that I’d won a tenner on Saturday’s lottery, which I collected on Monday and ordered Indian to be delivered. I ordered meat samosas, shikh kebabs with the accompanying salad and raita, and prawn samber and pilau rice. I ate some of it then divided the rest into three containers for the freezer.

Last night I had a steak and kidney pudding, chips and gravy, and tonight I made a beef bourginon with boiled spuds!

There. Am topped up now just remembering that lot!

Has nobody eaten for two days?

Mollie darlin’ - you should know me better than that by now. I don’t go more than 4 hours without munching on something!!!

Made a chicken Chasseur yesterday - with additional Onions and Mushrooms. Delicious!!!

Going to be a touch busy today so will have a ‘make do’ meal of Lamb grills, Mash, veg and gravy.

Mexican chicken with spicy rice and fresh fruit with yoghurt.

Chicken & mushroom risotto made by himself and its sooooooo yummy

kids had pizza, we opted for a nice healthy salad
but we did all have cherry pie and cream

Oh I love cherry pie, not had it in ages.

Cherry pie is the one fruit pie that I like cornish icecream on rather than my usual choice of cream or custard.

Oh don’t, you’re making my mouth water now.

Paul matey, if you can get them, you’ll need about 8 - 16 oz of (deseeded) cherries). Wash and dry them. Cut in halves and placed in an oven proof dish.

In a bowl place 6 oz, self-raising flour, 2 eggs, 4oz soft margarine, 4 0z sugar and beat together. Scoop mixture and spread evenly over cherries. Decorate with almond flakes. Place in an oven (at 180 oC) for approx 35 - 40 mins. When cooked through, remove from oven. (optional - add a small quantity of Kirsch over the sponge) Serve hot with either Icecream, cream or custard.

I shall be doing some baking today.
A chicken and mushroom pie with chips and garden peas and a custard tart for sweet.
There is usually some scraps of pastry left over so the birds will get a treat too.

I do something similar with a frangipan mixture over a pastry base. Cherry and pear is nice done this way.

we had Tuna Pasta bake yesterday, home made by my OH
it was very nice.

Today we will be having Turkey and sausage with a selection of veg and roast spuds.

not sure about pudding but i will be doing some baking in the morning, some bread so i might make a nice desert as well.

:041::041::041: Sunday again!!! - means full Sunday roast (chicken) with all the trimmings. Might even spoil myself and make a ‘crumble’.

Because I ave two large cauliflowers I am going to do a cauliflower cheese bake with mushrooms. The caulis are huge so we may well be eating it well into next week.

I’d decided to get fish and peas from the chippy tonight, only to find when I got there that it was closed. :frowning:

Undeterred though, I dug out a battered cod from my freezer and had that with curry sauce instead.

What Mollie darlin??? - no chips??? - just not on!!! can’t have fried fish without chips - sacrilege!!!
