Roast pork with sage and onion and apple sauce …Yorkshire’s, pots peas and roasties…
I ate some cake at the birthday party yesterday so am balancing things out today…
Lunch = home-made lentil and vegetable soup with a wholemeal roll.
Supper = leeks in white sauce/grilled haddock followed by a pear and some walnuts .
That piece of pork looks sooooooyummy.
Thank you Cookie. I have been considering buying a halogen oven. Will you keep me updated on your opinion of it, and how easy or difficult it is to clean. I would appreciate it.
It is soooo easy to clean so far I have cooked chicken in it twice. It has a non stick plate that goes underneath the food and catches all the fat and gook.
When you remove the food and plate you can then add water and a little washing up liquid and let it clean itself. So far I have not needed to do this as the chicken portions I roasted at 200 didn’t do any spitting.
I am so impressed with it. The chicken is very crispy and the outside and juicy on the inside.
home made chicken and mushroom pie with chips and peas
followed by apple crumble
That pork made my mouth water. I don’t like the smell of pork cooking tho!
For tonight I’m cooking what I should’ve cooked yesterday as its the use by date today (but it smells ok). Its mushroom & garlic boneless chicken thighs (Asda special for quickness) jacket potatoes and veg, not very inventive.
My OH sells amongst other things halogen ovens, I’m a bit miffed one hasn’t found it’s way home!
For lunch we had Mrs. PM’s famous skid pie with mash, carrots, mange tout and gravy, followed by stewed apples and berries from the garden last year.
I must say that pork joint looked really special Steve, any crackling left…
I wondered what skid pie was but it’s just dawned on me - steak & kidney maybe? I’ll now reveal my guilty secret - I love the Fray Bentos version but the tin is so darn hard to open!
Yes Lynn, we’ve always called it skid pie as my wife makes a huge slab of steak and kidney pie that makes 18 portions, and then freezes the portions in bags marked S/Kid Pie…![]()
I must say that I tried one of those tinned pies once, but I thought it not worthy of the effort needed to open it…![]()
Back to normal tonight after the Sunday roast pork …yummy… that crackling was bootifull…tonight chicken burger and chips…tomorrow I think we got lambs liver
That piece of pork looks scrumptious Steve.
Grilled pieces of peppered mackeral, salad and quinoa at lunchtime today
and tonight scrambled egg on muffins (probably:-))
Plantman you’re probably right, any samples from MRsPM you could send my way?
I prefer to eat food rather than cook it! I should take it easy though, the IBS has reared it’s ugly head.
Please don’t mention IBS or Ted Hutchinson will appear.
Oops sorry, new here! I haven’t encountered him (yet) and given the time I’m posting this I won’t mention my other ailment!
Many a true word Cate…![]()

Sorry Lynn I’d love to, but we’ve only got fourteen portions left…![]()
Bless you we all sympathise with any ailment that you might have, thing is we may have it ourselves. Ted tends to overwhelm a subject with science, he also likes to have the last word.
Pancakes! Pancakes at lunch with the daycare kiddies and then pancakes for supper with my daughter :). It just has to be pancakes today! I LOVE blueberries on my pancakes.
I have just discovered M&S sell wild salmon so I am treating myself today and having a piece of salmon with parsley butter and lemon juice, local broccolli and peas. Also fresh fruit salad and some nuts
