What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

Cate darlin’ and the main course is???..

I love home made soup Cookie. A favourite of mine is Butternut squash.

Our meal today will be, Salmon, braised in a roasted veg ratatouille sauce with whole wheat noodles, no dessert today though unless any of the family will settle for ice cream.

When you get yourself wrapped around one of my hearty soups you don’t need a main. My soups are full of vegetables and the soup I made for hubs is mostly chicken.

I also love butternut squash soup, infact I have some in the freezer. I also made some lovely black turtle bean soup with the left over Christmas ham which is also ready in the freezer. Bring on the cold weather we handle it.

what are Sprats ?

A small fish

don’t like them myself

today we had grilled bacon, tomato, mushrooms and scrambled eggs

Tonight I had Roast Chicken and Stuffing, Roast and New Pots, Cauli, Cabbage, Runners and Peas…in other words made a complete Pig of myself!

sounds lovely Bonny

It was Kitty but would have preferred good old Pie/Mash lol

Cate darlin’ - yeah soup is fine and I agree can be filing for approx 30 - 45 mins, but after that I start to feel hungry again - hence my question. To misquote “one cannot live on soup alone”.

Agreed but a lunchtime meal or when you come back from walking the dog on a very cold beach soup is just the ticket.
Today Mr Atkins diet is having a steak for dinner and I shall have low fat fish and a potato of some kind.

A gammon steak (without the egg or pineapple) and a jacket potato.

Try gammon sometime with the juice of an orange sprinkled on top. Much nicer than pineapple.

Tonight I’m having good old bangers and mash with onion gravy.

Can do even better than that Mollie darlin’ - a gammon joint studded with cloves, liberally spread with whole grain mustard and several dessert spoons of honey. Place in a casserole dish, add a little water, clap the lid on and place in an oven for approx 1 hour. Prepare and cook whatever vegetables you wish to accompany the bacon joint. Absolutely delicious!!! and if there’s any left - then you have the ingredients for a fabulous bacon sarnie!!!

I don’t like cloves or honey, but the mustard does sound nice.

We will be having a chicken and veg risotto but I have replaced the rice with pearl barley. I pinched the idea off a cooking programme.

Steak, Jacket Pot and Salad and good old rice pud to follow:-)

Tuna pasta bake, made by my kids and it was very nice

Home made spicy meatballs in a spicy tomato sauce and spaghetti. It’s a family favourite and always goes down well. Honey sponge pudding and custard for dessert.

going out for a meal tonight taking mum and dad for a treat
so no idea what i will be having yet
