What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

I’ll try  Although I don’t think I’m that creative myself - OH is though, so we’ll see

Carmen darlin’ one has to thoroughly inspect meat to avoid the gristle when buying it - yes I appreciate that sometimes this cannot be avoided. When cooking beef, I find its better to roast it at a lower temperature (160o instead of 180-190o) but for a lot longer 2 1/2 - 3 hours. That way the meat tends to be not so tough. As chefs do, I also remove from the oven up to 20 minutes before carving to allow the meat to ‘rest’.

Mary darlin’ - glad to hear your appetite is returning - will have you munching on suet puddings and pies very soon. Since we’re also now firmly in the run-up to Xmas, many of the supermarkets have Xmas puddings on sale - luverly with Brandy sauce!!!

I get some lovely recipes on the internet plus Dandysmom forwards some gorgeous stuff. I probably have more time on my hands than you so I will keep a look out and put anything that looks good on the recipe board.

A right old mixture this lunch time … a banana, rest of yesterday’s cauliflower cheese and two slices of coffee cake.

Mary darlin’ - that’s the first course, but what’s the rest of it going to be???

Have been working hard all morning today and just noticed the time - haven’t had my lunch yet and didn’t defrost any meat last night, so will also have to ‘make do’ today - might have a ‘mixed grill’ - sausages, burgers, eggs, bacon, mushrooms and chips.

UJ, that is three lots of meat? Goodness where do you put it all?
I surprised myself yesterday eating that bit of bacon, first meat I have eaten for a long time. Was out in the fresh air and the smell wafting over from his burger van was too tempting. I picked off every bit of fat though, ugh nothing worse than fat in meat and smothered the bacon in Daddies sauce.

Mary darlin’ - was actually FIVE lots of meat - two sausages, two rashers of bacon and 1/4 pounder burger with two eggs and a pile of oven chips. Somewhere around 7.00pmish will also think about ‘supper’ perhaps a pile of sarnies.

Dear God, Uncle Joe, where DO you put it all?

Monday is no-fancy-cooking day, dinner will be a well done burger with mustard and onions, fresh cauliflower, sauteed mushrooms and curried potatoes.

Eileen darlin’ - I keep telling everyone I’ve got a healthy appetite - ask Jean - she’s seen me eat at a carvery restaurant near where Dragon used to live - had a full (Xmas) lunch - roast turkey and all the trimmings - plate was piled high and still had room for pudding!!!

I am in awe … seriously!

Suet pudding, now theres something I havent had for ages. Must remedy that. One of my favourites.

I have made a lasagna today so that I can take some to work for when the patients are in bed. Ive added cherry tomatoes and mushrooms to it to make it nice and chunky and lots of cheese on top.

Eileen darlin’ - you wouldn’t want to keep me for a week - I’d eat you out of house and home inside three days!!!

You know what … I believe you! But I could afford to take you out for dinner … at an all-you-can-eat venue; they would be, well, dumbfounded…

Today has been chunky stewing steak with a sprinkling of dried chilli peppers done for several hours in a slow cooker.
Adding a tin of baked beans and some grated carrot thickening with cornflour then cooking for a little longer. Poured over mashed potato.
It went down very nicely especially with the couple of glasses of white wine.

Good old bangers and mash for me tonight, with onion gravy.

Tuna sandwish with salad trying to drop some more weaight before my opertion

Sandwich, cauliflower, fried potatoes …

Chicken Korma with rice and garlic and coriander naan bread…

Go Mags…homemade? and have you tried Keema Naans yummy

I used Patak’s Korma sauce and my chicken and rice, Kazz
I haven’t tried Keema Naans, I usually buy Sainsbury’s own make …I’ll keep my eyes open for them though:-)
