What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

…more luck than planning Kazz and whisking the remains of the joint away before ‘seconds’ turned into thirds

Aaaahhhh but Meg darlin’ - if there’s any of those poached pears left - they too can be ‘polished off’ with a dollop of icecream - luverley!!!

Monday is “cook’s night off” here; dinner tonight is bacon and scrambled eggs, toast, cauliflower again, and blueberries and ice cream.

Tonight I had Wienerschnitzel with home-made mushroom sauce, fried mushrooms, and pan-fried potatoes.

Having lived in Germany I loved the food there, and only wish I could copy exactly their recipes, but sadly, I can’t, but I try! :frowning:

Pasta e fagioli tonight, salad, ciabatta roll.

I have family in Germany Mollie and agree about the food. What about the selection of cakes, aren’t they to die for?

Black Forest cake … mmmmm!!!

Time for me to get the big soup pot out the cupboard, so lunch will be home made soup for the next few days.

I love the old soup pot that just keeps getting topped up and reheated. As children the old cast iron cauldron used to be a regular visitor atop the cooking range, with fresh root veg added daily and the occasional rabbit being tossed in to maintain the level. On those cold winter evenings every meal was a feast when served with Mum’s fresh baked crusty bread…

I’ve tried many times over the years but have never been able to reproduce that stew…

As it’s so hot here today, we will be having a chicken salad with baby new potatoes…

I’m planning on shrimp creole tonight, salad and half a ciabatta roll. Fig bars with my tea.

You can’t reproduce it because food is not just the taste but the atmosphere (searching for another word but failing) your Mom’s soup was made with the taste of home, love, childhood memories.:023:

Some mouth watering meals there folks
What an adventurous and interesting lot of diners we have on here

A simple meal tonight of crispy jacket potatoes with grated cheese/tomato salad/ beans from the garden/grilled organic bacon and mushrooms then new seasons coxes with some freshly shelled walnuts.

Today it was Shepherd’s Pie home made of course, with peas and lashing of gravy

For desert we had hot chocolate fudge cake with double cream

Sorry, I forgot about this topic. I must start sitting up and paying attention!

Cakes lass is not something I think about, but I have it on good authority that they are certainly to die for.

German meals are quite fabulous though.

Oh!!! - Kitty darlin’ - youy should have given me some warning, - I’d have been there to help you consume it !!! - Be warned!!! - I have a fearsome appetite!!!

Roast chicken. Bought chicken yesterday, didn’t look at the date (usually do), and it’s to be used by today…no room in freezer, so chicken it is

Bacon and egg butties

No-cook Thursday: bacon and cheese sandwich, cauliflower, curried potatoes

Aitch matey, I can see I’m going to have to seriously take you in hand. Where’s the black pudding, sausages, mushrooms, baked beans and chips ??? - the bread you can either toast or fry as a side dish.
