What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

The tastiest, and greatest value for money ready made lasagne I have ever tried is the chilled lasagne at Lidl, they are really huge and deep, and the meat/sauce is almost (not quite but almost)as good as home made. Ditto their cottage pie. (Does annoy me when producers call it shepherds pie then use beef!).

I really should proof read when using this pad cos it uses a sort of predictive text programme and does not always get it right

Yes he’d only left half a slice of wafer thin ham  so I opened my last tin of tuna

Dinner tonight is a salmon fillet (from Lidl ) with a creme fraiche sauce with a few prawns in it. Spuds and spinach. I need strength after getting up and mowing the grass which I am going to do NOW. curses curses

I had a Tesco lasagne this evening (but always put more cheese on top), with home made chips. There was quite a lot of the lasagne!

Thanks for the info about the halogen oven. I have been looking at reviews and a lot of reviewers recommend buying one with a lid stand and the tongs.

To be honest Jazzi I thought they all came complete with at least the tongs now, and I would not be without mine now, especially for chicken, bacon, chops indeed everything grillable. A sort of ‘party piece’ is to put a slice of bread covered in cheese on the rack, turn it on and hey voila instant cheese on toast, as the underside of the bread will brown from the circulating heat.

Yes, agree about the tongs. But some cookers come with a hinged lid, and I was just commenting on the important accessories. I read about the cheese on toast! Sounds great. I think I’m sold on the idea…just need to make room in the kitchen now.

Cannot say have seen a halogen with a hinged lid,new one on me.

My halogen oven has a hinged lid, I bought the model for that specific reason as I did not want to be trying to place a hot lid on a stand in the limited space in my kitchen. I must say that the advice I got from someone who said a hinged lid would be better was spot on.

I’m going by reviews on Amazon, so it’s what each purchaser prefers.

Lunch = toasted cheese and ham sandwiches.

Dinner = Smoked Haddock fish cakes (homemade) with spuds, broccoli, carrots and butter beans ( I actually remembered to soak them before going to bed last night).

I have bought 2 more packs of wafer thin ham … and have hidden them.
I’m not saying where in case he reads this !!!

You are a funny ha ha gal, Rachel! Make me larf all the time.

I’m knocking up a mushroom soup and will have some for lunch with a buttered roll. (But in-between having a cup of coffee and many biscuits!)

Roast pork meal for tonight, with all the roasties.

OK … ham and mustard sarnie eaten, whilst watching the men’s tennis, followed by strawberries with ice cream and chocolate sauce

oh darn … he may have discovered the bars of chocolate :-(:!:

c’mon Grigor …

I had Frosties for breakfast, don’t eat lunch, just cooked steak with potatoes, carrots and swede and broccoli with mustard, twas delish

I’ve just had tinned Mackerel in vegetable oil on two toast, I have to go out now, and the wife is out with the daughter, the bowl I microwaved the fish in is swilled in the washing up bowl, and the microwave door is closed, the wife will be home before me, and has an acute sense of smell, I’ll lay a pound to a penny, as soon as she opens the front door she will say to the daughter “He’s been cooking fish in the microwave again”.

Fish & chips this evening. Haddock is the fish of choice here and I buy it fresh from one of two fishmongers on the coast. I make the batter with seasoned Be-Ro SR flour and brown ale.

Tesco smiled at me again yesterday evening, got to the reduced section just as a small, but not too small rolled lamb shoulder joint was reduced to £2.35, so will bung it in t’mincer and shepherds pie here we go. Oh and they had BLACK raspberries, anyone heard of these? Two packs which had also been reduced to 57p each and a pack of four thick Greek yogurts for, wait for it, an amazing 22p!!! So one of they with some of the raspberries for brekkie methinks, and will make a sugar free raspberry jelly and bung some of them in that. And on that lovely thought I will say goodnight.

Baked potato with prawn mayo for lunch. Maybe bolognaise for dinner. Not sure yet:-)

Nice head of broccoli with some cauliflower and … my vice no one else seems to like the combo … mint sauce only 72 calories too !

I like vinegar with my greens Julie, 'tis smashing on sprouts, really makes a difference.
