What are you having for lunch/dinner? (Part 1)

I put a chicken in at 8am. OH will be having chicken salad tonight, garlicky mushroom salad for me.

Will be roasting a piece of chicken with parsnips, onions, carrots and potatoes later this morning - lunch will be around 13.00

Lunch will be when I get hungry… had it at 4pm yesterday which meant I didn’t eat supper so saved on calories, can have some chips with my salad today with those saved calories.

Must tell because I am proud of my self. Bought some fresh sardines from wet fish market and this morning gutted and filleted them, they were quite large. Hubs said they were delish but he still found bones gosh those things must have as many bones or more as an average human.

Well done Cate darlin’ !!!

Thanks Uncle Joe, I must also pass on a hint which I was reading recently about when washing your hands after cleaning fish to use cold water as if you use hot the smell will get into your open pores and stay like an unwanted guest.

Wipe Lemon juice on your hands BEFORE washing, will eliminate the smell of fish entirely Cate darlin’.

Ah yes the old let’s find the small cuts on the fingers test, yes young man I know it well:shock:

Aaahhhh Cate darlin’ if the knife you used was sharp enough and you were careful with what you were doing, there shouldn’t be any cuts.

Bought some lovely leg of lamb steaks the other week when they were vastly reduced, so today it is lamb casserole with new potatoes and assorted veggies, gravy and mint sauce; and as I slipped up and took four instead of two out of freezer will also make a lamb curry and freeze that.

Let me know when you’ll be having the lamb curry DM, I’ll be along to join you.:lol::lol:

Yes UJ, lunch was for 12.30 noon, as the M.I.L. likes to go home by 2.30pm, then we went back to her flat and I had to go over to Asda’s to do her shopping. Now home relaxing and I will cook Indian Savouries for our supper.

Well done Cate, but I couldn’t eat it if I see the slightest bone.

We are going to have Salmon Salad today.

@Cookie, to be honest I would have treated them the same way I do sprats and simply rolled them in flour and pan fried in olive oil and butter then eaten them with a wedge of lemon and chunks of crusty baguette. (And if you want a bony fish you should try sea bass. Delicious fish but oh my it is bony.)

Well yesterday I sliced a big onion into half inch slices, lined the bottom of casserole and placed the lamb steaks on top, added lamb stock cube and half a cup of hot water, covered and put into the oven on a low heat (about gas 2) for a couple of hours. Then I decided to add some very thinly sliced carrots (sliced at an angle so came out oval) covered with two layers of thinly sliced spuds and added a hotpot mix, and left it cooking away until we decided we were hungry. Served with new potatoes, french beans and sprouts.

Late last night I made a bhuna with the other two steaks had defrosted. When I fried the onions I added the left over spuds diced up, and later will add some cauliflower. To be served tonight with rice, naan and mango chutney, oh yes and a couple of baked bananas. Mouth watering already.

:cry::cry::cry: Where’s mine???

I did the first lot but they were huge sardines and as you know sardines are ok when they are small but these lads were a lot bigger. We also get sea bass from this wet fish shop but it has been filleted and they are gorgeous. If fish are really brain food my husband is going to become the brain of Britain.

This evening we had. Breaded Chicken, oven cubed potatoes and Courgette Bake. Tonight we are having Melon and Ice Cream.

had a nice healthy salad with ginger, lime and chile mackeral oooh I do like that. Now I’m having melon with ginger sprinkled on.
