Half fat sausages for meat eater with courgettes and cabbage and mushrooms. I had linda macartney rosemary sausages lovely.
Bacon sandwiches
A repeat of yesterday to use up the sausages.
I know this is nothing to do with what I am having for dinner but I spoke to my greengrocer yesterday and he said that cauliflowers are about £1.50 each ordinary cabbage is £1 per lb and taters are £9 per bag this year and last year they were £3 per bag. I was after beetroot and he said it was £12 per bag against last years £6 and this is all due to the weather, too cold and nothing is growing. Jokingly he said he was going to start selling rice and pasta.
He made me laugh when he said that people are coming to him from Asda, Morrison, Tesco because they don’t have any cauliflowers.
We are having Chicken Casserole and new potatoes for lunch today.
Sausages, Mash, Mushrooms & onion gravy.
Strewth, its a bit early for lunch Susie darlin’ - I’m still digesting my breakfast. Later on, (around 13.30ish) I’ll have a steak & kidney pudding, sweet potato, veg and gravy.
Found some diced turkey in the freezer so meat eater is having that with broccoli and carrots.
Broccoli and carrots with soya beans for me.
Sorry UJ, you got me wrong, we didn’t have our Sausages until 2.00pm, have just finished eating.
Just about to cook some Fish n Chips. A lovely Cod steak in my own batter with real home made chips…none of these frozen or microwave things.oh and a rather nice bottle of something rather nice.
If you’d mentioned it earlier I could have got there in time. Blow.
We are having belly pork cooked in the 'swirly thing (sons name for it) so all the fat will be left behind leaving lovely crispy fat, tender meat and excellent crackling, served with extra creamy mash, sprouts, broccoli and cauli, with gravy for me, and maybe none for him (sometimes he wants sometimes not). Was considering a milk pud of some sort as we have a surplus but as we will not be eating until around 7.30/8ish thought would be a bit too much. Maybe tomorrow.
Tonight we are having a Chinese Take-away.
Meat eater is being a fish eater tonight and making his own dinner fish and chips. I am making a nut roast thingy for the vegetarians amongst us and little great niece will probably end up having a bit of both as making her mind up is never popular.
Julie - what are you doing with nuts? Always looking for new ideas.
I’m tossing leftover chicken, mushroom, peppers, onions, and rice together and see what I get.
Defrosted the other half of the Pork joint I bought several weeks ago yesterday and placed it in the slow cooker overnight. Poured cider over it and the smell emanating from my kitchen this morning is fabulous!!!
Will peel and chop potato, parsnip and carrots later on, place in an oven dish and roast, together with the skin from the pork joint with which I will make some ‘crackling’.
I did this recipe with out the chestnuts http://www.domesticsluttery.com/2010/11/veggie-christmas-nut-loaf.html I replaced them with mushrooms.
It was very nice but possible would have been better with the chestnuts.
We are having a roast today of Lamb, R. Potatoes, Brussels & Carrots, then tonight tin of Rice Pudding.
For lunch, I’ve just had a jacket potato and beans. For dinner, I’m doing sole stuffed with prawns & mushrooms and cooked in white wine and cream.
Creamed pots and wilted baby leaf spinach to accompany it. Don’t do puddings.
Cottage cheese and salad for lunch today.
Meat eater having toad in the hole ready meal later.
