We had Cod Fish Fingers, Chips & Beans.
Don’t own up to eating fish fingers you’ll have the food police here. ;-)
I’m having chicken chasseur or something like that, the chix onion and mushrooms are real but the mix is out of a packet, smells nice anyway. Boiled pots (Tesco’s everyday ones 69p and they’re lovely) sliced green beans and cauli.
Popped down the road to the shops this morning, bought a lovely pork joint. Already have the cider, so will put joint in slow cooker and cover with cider and switch on before I go to bed. The smell in my kitchen tomorrow morning will be wonderful. Tomorrow, will remove the skin, place it in the roasting tin with the potatoes, parsnips, carrots and onion and make ‘crackling’.
Hazel I love Chicken Chassseur, I also use that packet usually Colmans.
Today we are having Chicken Piri Piri with Roast Potatoes, French Beans, Swede & Gravy.
Tonight homemade Carrot & Corriander Soup & Roll.
Got a portion of the chasseur in the freezer (I had Welsh rarebit for brekker UJ). Suzie I’ve never had swede on their own will give that a try, had steamed carrots instead of cauli, they were nice I normally have them mashed with swede. Today it roast dinner at sons, hopefully pork, my favourite,
Mashed swede and carrots with a couple of shakes of pepper is delicious!![]()
lots of black pepper (and BUTTER)![]()
Oh yes!!! ![]()
Following on from yesterday - I cooked the pork in the slow cooker overnight (the smell in my kitchen first thing this morning was fabulous!!!). Have now strained off some of the juices into a saucepan, added a a stock cube, some ‘Bisto’ powder and a splash of Balsamic Vinegar to make the gravy. In the meantime, have peeled and chopped carrots, parsnips, potatoes and an onion, placed in a roasting tin with some of the Pork skin (smothered in salt it will crisp up nicely for the crackling).
Cauliflower cheese today, one of my favourites with a nice strong cheese and little mustard to bring out the flavour.
I made duck with choritso sausage in a red wine sauce with cepes and whole baby onions , with mash carrots and broccalli
Yesterday I cubed some casserole steak, browned it and placed in casserole dish, then lightly sweated some onions, carrots and baby mushrooms, de-glazed with beef stock and then cooked very low (gas 2) for about 8 hours. Today just need to prepare/cook veggies and reheat casserole.
Roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings.
The whole meal sounds lovely but what is a cepe please?
Its a french mushroom … Now Im wondering if I have spelt it right?
I think I have
rest of chix chasseur with rice and peppers. Tomorrow its minted lamb shanks slow roasted with roasted parsnips, rose onions, carrots, little potatoes and sprouts and broad beans.
