USA has become a threat to the world - pushing us closer and closer to WW3

I agree, no one cared about the cold blooded murder of Jean Charles de Menezes on a tube train by British police so it is unlikely any authority in the US will take any action against an ICE officer carrying out the government’s wishes.

How can you be sure that Putin is right? Everything he (allegedly?) said in this quote applies to himself. A man who’s sitting in a glasshouse is waffling about manipulation in other countries. It’s all political rhetoric and Putin has been trained to come across in sheep’s clothing. But, Ye shall know them by their fruits, it says. Who raided a neighbouring country and refuses to stop it? Who’s waging a hybrid war against the free world? Who hasn’t kept his promises?

After all, what arguments can he, and his followers, put forward to prove that what he says about the activities of the West does not hold true for him?

Now that he has been identified by media reports, he will certainly fear for his own safety or have to hide somewhere under police protection. Reports say that the situation is not likely to be investigated by Minnesota law enforcement, but given the polarisation in the country, where can he really be safe again?

indeed, there’s no official version anywhere to be seen and it relies on a translation which could be accessorized

Another mechanism by which the US risks creating meltdown, wars and suffering - via its enormous national debt and the way it plans to address it.
The US debt is $38 trillion and now growing at $4-5 trillion a year. The interest payments alone are now over $1 trillion a year - so paying interest on its debt is greater than every government budget, except social security. As the debt total goes up, the interest rates demanded go up because lender see greater and greater risk. There is no attempt under Trump to meaningfully reduce government spending and certainly no intention to raise more taxes.
This at a time of relative prosperity - GDP growth and high employment levels. A small hiccup would be catastrophic for the level of borrowing and for the level of interest payments. And if the US economy crashes, at looks very possible, then the world economy follows it down. It was the depression of the 1920’s and 30’s that contributed enormously to the rise of Nazi Germany. A new depression would also deliver reckless leaders and reckless power-play actions.

the scary thing is that parts of our pension funds are linked to international debt, so default or destruction of the international system could leave pension coffers empty

Hi

Annie, I am a complete numpty when it comes to finance things.

I rely on others for that, some of whom, rightly or wrongly, I rely on.

I am informed that the big thing to worry about is the secondary lending market, the buy now, pay over 3 months thing.

Apparently the big banks are lending them money at high rates.

I want my current accounts to be safe.

I don’t want or need another crash to pay for bankers bonuses.

Looks like she was a lovely kind decent woman:

Her mother, Donna Ganger, told the Minnesota Star Tribune, external that her daughter was “probably terrified” during the confrontation with officers that saw her fatally shot and that she was “one of the kindest people I’ve ever known”.

“She was extremely compassionate,” Ganger told the daily newspaper. “She’s taken care of people all her life. She was loving, forgiving and affectionate. She was an amazing human being.”

Officer induced jeopardy:

A song:

This old man is crying: “We are being attacked by our own govt”:

This old lady is crying too:

Owen Jones: US has descended into fascism, and, Donald Trump is a liar:

They blatantly lie to us:

Maga is a cult of brainwashed people:

Well, I’m feeling incredibly well informed now after reading about Greenland and the abandoned Cold War Camp Century left by the US where they’ve left a load of nuclear waste frozen under the ice … which incidentally due to the thawing ice cap should be exposed and leaking out by 2100.
I never realised quite how wealthy Greenland was for rare minerals either . or that the EU had signed a mining agreement with them.
Trump certainly still looks determined to claim a new 51st State.

This guy asks the obvious question.
My understanding is any journalist that asks a “difficult” question has their credentials revoked and isn’t allowed into the room.
I really don’t think most Americans realise just how censored the media is already.
That’s what happens when you get corporate giants owning the electronic and print media.
Now consider that the owners of “X” and Facebook are “great friends” of the White House and the implications of that for the protection of user’s rights.

If you’re in dire a debt situation WW3 doesn’t look so bad.

Debt as a country or as an individual?
What would you hope to gain from a WW?

Oblivion. I lack the courage to do it myself.

How can we be sure that everything we see and read in the media is correct Dachs?
And now with AI and ‘Grok’ how can we even believe a clip of the person actually delivering the speech?

Sounds like its time to disable the computer etc etc

As a completely irrelevant aside observation, I was looking out of the window of a friend’s apartment in Wells next the Sea in Norfolk today and was told (and checked) that the next landmass directly in front of me was Greenland.

Everything we’re told is to some degree a lie based on who’s telling us. It’s a sad realization that I’ve been played my whole life for the benefit of others.

Have you done alright, despite the adversity?

If I’m honest, no.
