Perhaps he’ll buy the UK for the golf courses and then you can have the real thing ![]()
That’s strange Swimmy, on last nights BBC news the ship was claimed to be unflagged… ![]()
and now suddenly it is claimed to be Russian flagged…
Not a sad day at all Swimmy, I respect your opinion and hope you will respect mine.
Isn’t this what debate is all about. Just because we disagree doesn’t mean that I don’t admire you and your outstanding bravery, and consider you a very good friend even though we have never met…
Chaos is being introduced to the world after a long period of peace Morty.
Nothing stays the same, history proves that, and with or without Trump there is going to be trouble and unrest in the world. I predict that we are at a turning point and it will actually be survival of the fittest and richest. We have been prepared by stealth over the last 50 years, but now the gloves are off and the measures to control the general public are no longer hidden and are in blatant view.
There is being a big change in management in the world, I don’t know who will be in charge, if they are not already, but there will be a massive struggle before it settles down again…
Little skirmishes all around the the world have already started and soon they will all join up just like previous world wars.
PS:- Just watching a massive protest on the news in Tehran
None taken Azz…

I’ll do one in the morning Spitty, I’m off to bed now…

The USA was a great friend to many nations, now it is not a friend to anyone. Since readopting the Monroe doctrine, ie “America is ours” (that is the continent not their little bit in North America) the USA might have taken its eyes off Asia and to a lesser extend Europe.
It has certainly opened the eyes of many nations to ask, “How reliable is the USA as a friend?” some are overtly looking to China who seems to be moving closer to Russia. It is a dangerous time for the USA’s allies.
She was a widow with 3 kids according to news reports. Looks like she panicked when approached by an armed unit, tried to back up and then probably her foot slipped onto the accelerator in panic when cornered. Likely her kids were on her mind. She was shot at blank range by someone who should have jumped out of the way instead. These cars block the road in protest, they are just protests like our tractors blocking the road in Westminster
So is this the hate on America page then? Very nice.
It is disdain on the current administration which has destroyed the reputation of the country and pushed us closer to WW3 than we have probably ever been, as per the OP:
If my country had done the same I would want my friends over the pond (or from anywhere) to say, even if just to alert us how the rest of the world views us or to prompt us to try and do something about it.
We have lots of lovely members from the US here, many of them are equally horrified and alarmed at what is going on:
I hope @RightNow and our other members from the USA are keeping safe, and, as per the OP, can either get out to safety or try to get that dangerous and reckless administration out… or the whole world could be doomed! ![]()
No.
BUT it is very true that the US’s staunchest allies and friends at this moment feel very let down and very unsure about the US as an ally.
No, if you scroll through quite a few other posts you will find pages that are primarily critical of the Trump administration. And, let’s be honest, there is plenty to be critical about.
This page, opening about the grave risk of international tensions, takes the criticism up a notch. It highlights how Trump’s actions to allies (dismissive and insulting) and how that risks the dismantling of previous security and defense structures. It also notes Trump’s favouring of Russia’s world view and how that risks gifting Russia Ukraine … and effectively telling Putin that his expansion plans are all good. Then sits that with the inconsistent claim about the need to take over Greenland for security reasons - from Putin who he is otherwise treating as a friend, and as a result would destroy NATO. Explain how that improves world security.
And that is all on top of Trump killing people in international waters. Or bombing other countries.
If this looks like a tirade of hate against America then it is only because it turned out that the majority of voters put Trump in power and the majority of representatives in both houses are enabling Trump. Soz, and I feel for Americans who do not want all this, but it is not the fault of anyone else.
People worldwide are shocked and saddened to see such things happening in the “land of the free”. Although I’ve never felt that the US has ever been as free as the UK. Perhaps this was the case back in the 80s when people there were still happy and prosperous.
Isn’t this what the media does Annie. Someone gets killed and then the media introduce them to to public and make them seem like long lost friends?
I’m not condoning the shooting, but take one trigger happy officer who also panicked at a vehicle almost driving into a colleague and speeding away.
It was very unfortunate, and a result of people not being suitable for the job and carrying a gun.
I imagine the officer involved will probably be devastated after learning more about the innocent victim he shot.
How many people are wrongly shot each day in America?
Too many violent movies and computer games make life cheap.
I agree … it’s a natural cycle. Civilisations grow, flourish, peak and decline, It makes me feel Ancient.
Watching the world now is like watching the Fall of The Roman Empire all over again … take Vesuvius … no social media beaming it around the world then as it happened with selfies on the lava slopes… just lots of ash… I remember it well.
Hey … I like Americans though can see it’s hard not to take our criticism personally. We mean your President … not you. not the average American who just wants to live their own life. We moan about our politcians just the same and our pathetic current leader couldn’t fight his way out of a paper bag.
I remember when I was at primary school we used gather on the 24th of May and sing the British Empire song. ‘Remember remember, The 24th of May, British Empire’ I don’t think it is sung now.
Don’t ever think that Bobby, we are all in the same boat, politicians that used to be employed by us to do the best for the country and it’s people, are now our employers and we are the employees doing their bidding and sacrificing our brothers and sisters, sons and daughters fighting their battles while they bask in a luxury lifestyle in their warm heated mansions with well stocked kitchens, playing a round on their golf courses doing deals and scheming how to earn even more money and power.
We’ve been lucky Morty, growing up in a time when there was plenty, no wars to speak of, and plenty of community spirit where everybody looked out for each other. Mrs Fox on her hands and knees scrubbing the step and having a nag to everyone who passed by.
We all knew what, and who we were then, and no propaganda and nonsense stuffed down our throats from the direct link to the establishment that we have now with TV, the internet and Smartphone…They know where you are from the millions of cameras placed around the neighbourhood, or the tracking devices on yer phone, or even your Tesco card…They know what you buy, whether you have a pet, how many people live in your house, and if you fill up with petrol there…How much you travel and to where…
Yep. Our (UK) government are a rum bunch who don’t always seem to fully understand what they’re doing.
I’m sure that the vast majority of Americans can’t be overjoyed by the fact that their own administrations provide financial and military support to nigh on 75% of the world’s dictatorships.
