Update on Pixie

It is good to know she’s having a moan, and that isn’t the Ann I know as she’s a very sunny person and doesn’t normally let anything get her down, but it’s only human to have a good whinge every now and again.

Those staples do sound bad and, if they are going to be so painful when they’re removed, I hope they can offer her a local anaesthetic or something for pain relief.

Thanks for update Mollie. Pleased to hear Ann is doing ok. One of my neighbours had a big operation on his neck last year, and he had lots of staples in-said he didn’t feel a thing when they were taking them out. Hope thats the same for Ann.

Thanks for that Merz. I hope it’s not too bad for her.

I`m so glad things are going in the right direction and she continues to do so .
Will she be home for Christmas?

Yes lass, she’ll be home for Christmas.

Thanks for the update Mollie. So glad to hear that Ann is having a little moan, it’s a good sign. It’s great that she’ll be home for Christmas too.

Thanks for the update Mollie and am pleased to hear that she’s having a little moan  That’s a lot of staples to remove!!

Does anyone but me wonder why our pets can have dissolvable stitches after an op and we can’t? I didn’t think to ask the surgeon before mine …

Thanks for the update Mollie, i have been busy at work and only just had chance to catch up on how pixie is getting on

It all sounds really good that she is moaning  we always say thats when a patient on the road to recovery

She should not feel any pain having the staples removed

I hope you’re right about the staples, Kitty. Jon said he had some in his leg as a youngster and they hurt a lot when being removed. :frowning:

Glad she’ll be home for Christmas!

Mollie darlin’ - excellent news about Ann, glad she’s come this ordeal with flying colours!!

As to taste of water - yes that will be the anaesthetic she’s received - that will improve in time but in the meantime get Jon to take her some squash or fruit juice to help mask the taste of the water. He could of course also add a little vodka or Gin to it too.

With regard to the staples, yes they ‘sting’ when they’re removed - tell Ann - ask the doctor or nurse to give her 10ml Oromorph (liquid morphine) about an hour before they remove the staples - I promise you it does help!!!

Thanks Uncle Joe, but no vodka or gin for our Pixie as she doesn’t drink alcohol.

I’m sure they’ll give her something for the pain when the staples are removed.

Thanks for the updates Mollie, all sounding pretty good…

Again you are all very welcome and, on behalf of Ann and Jon, I’d like to thank every one of you for your sincerity and kind comments.

I’m sure she’ll thank you personally just as soon as she’s able and I think she’ll be pretty overwhelmed.

I had some when I had my Bowel op and wasnt looking forward to having them out, they were fine, didnt feel a thing.

Good to hear Ann is doing well and will be home for Christmas:-) Thanks for update Mollie…

Thanks Mollie, it’s comforting to get the latest.

Excellent news folks. I’ve had another email from Jon and Ann is up and about by herself now. Jon expects her to be discharged in a few days so all is looking better and better.

That’s great news Mollie, hospitals do like to get you up and moving around as soon as possible now.

It sounds as if everything is going really well for Ann
