Up The Garden Path

God has done me a favour today, the constant rain has watered for me.

A nice looking lawn that Spitfire. Someone will have to stand guard to stop the horrid weeds from taking root.

All looking good. Pretty unlikely that weeds will be a problem for a fair few months.

Mushrooms first. :-p

Got to keep the Dog off for a bit, roll it once a day, then start feeding it (the Lawn not the Dog:-)), I’ll take a breather from the garden, and do the self levelling on the office floor, emulsion the walls and ceiling, then fit it out.

That’s true. Had an outbreak of them on our new turf 3 years after laying it!!

If you fertilised the soil personally I’d not bother feeding the grass, let the plants root before pressuring the grass to grow.

Looking great Spitty, but I agree no need to feed the grass for awhile, it needs to settle and build root first. If it were me I’d leave it until the spring at least…

Any updates Spitty?

Just twice daily watering on the new turf, you may remember a month or so ago, I had the Office plastered, and bought a 25kg bag of floor levelling compound and second hand paddle mixer, but, expressed concern that with 25kg of powder might not be enough, and could end up in trouble, so, I have just click and collected another 25kg, and a plastering trowel, so I will have a go at that in the morning, I will put a second coat of isolator on first then take a pic when its done.
I have rollered the deepish topsoil on the other side of the garden and am about to move the shuttering to half was across the old lawn remove that section of old turf and get the next tonne and a half of fresh topsoil in.

I love levelling compound. So easy to use and get extremely pleasing results. Worth remembering to have the mixing paddle on slow, and (as you probably know anyway) add the powder to the water and not the other way round.

Yes Dex, watched a YouTube on it, the guy kept stressing the importance of accurately measuring the water and powder content.

Used this to seal the floor.

Just seen the date on it!

Think that’s the manufacturing date to help identify batch number.

Can I use that stuff neat?

Would imagine so. But the usage guides suggest diluting it down, presumably to aid it soak into the surface.

Belt and Braces again maybe, it had one coat a month ago, and once levelled will be ceramic tiled, best left as, nowt to be gained from another coat.

Agree. Main purpose of it is to seal the existing floor so that water from the compound stays in the compound to help it set rather than let it leach out too quickly. A bit of moisture from the compound will probably reinvigorate (for want of a better word) a bit of tackiness in the dried primer and help it stick anyway.

Might be worth using what’s left on the compound to seal it for the purposes of the tile adhesive. Otherwise you’ll just be left with half a tub of primer, which will end up taking up space somewhere, 'cos you won’t have the heart to sling it away “just in case” ;-):lol:

Yep, the half tub would be behind the new shed for eternity.:lol:

Go on, slop it on. Only take you 10 mins and you’ve only got to wait a couple of hours for it to go off. As far as I can make out from the shadow, you’ve only used 1/3 of it so far. One more coat on the concrete and one on the compound. Then you can happily sling the empty tub away.

You know it makes sense;-)

Yep. its probably something I have to do, just to be sure, and to defy the YouTubers, I will feel better it, possibly.
