Turn back time

So, it’s almost time for you folks up North to turn back the clocks!

Are you for or against daylight savings?

In your opinion what’s the advantages/disadvantages of this practice?

Share your thoughts here

I’ll officially be two hours ahead of you Northerners soon.

I am against it the way it is at the moment. For us in NSW it goes on far too long (1st Sunday in October to 1st Sunday in April). I can understand the advantage for states like Tassie and to a lesser extent for Victoria but the idea was to have all the Eastern States in the same time!

Doh? Queensland doesn’t have daylight saving at all, NT doesn’t, WA doesn’t.

Definitely needs a rethink, changing the sunset from 7.00pm to 8.00pm in mid summer? what is the advantage in that?

It appears there has to be an accompanying music video (no idea why?)

The only way I remember which way round to do it is that they spring forward in the Spring and fall back in the Fall (Autumn)

No, I loathe it. I always take a week or so to get acclimatised to the new time. I wish they would do away with it - its of no use nowadays. :frowning: :mantelpiece_clock: :first_quarter_moon:

I wouldn’t want to abolish daylight saving time - known usually as British Summer Time in the UK. It means that in the height of summer it stays light until gone 10.00pm, which I absolutely love. I’d much rather have the daylight at that end of the day than at the other end - at the summer solstice, around 21st June, it starts to get light at about 4.00am. Without BST that would shift to 3.00am, which would be of little benefit to the majority of people I would imagine.

And no, sorry - much as I love music, I’m not including a music video. We have more than enough music threads on here without turning every thread into one!!

It makes the evenings very long for me and even gets dark at 4.30 PM which is awful . I find driving in the dark difficult so cant go to far for the day . I dont like it .

Probably been asked many times before but why do we do it ?

Backwards, forwards, whatever it makes no difference to my life.
I no longer live it by the clock – it’s called retirement.
After 20+ years on permanent night shifts my body clock also agrees!

Apparently it helps people, up in the North, to have a daylight balanced day.

Should Scotland leave the UK, we could chuck it out (clock changing) !

'Bye. Nicola!

Dislike the clock change, but, its late this year, only seven weeks to the shortest day.

None at all, other than let’s ‘face’ it, all that 24/7! Although I will only worry about it when the numbers disappear too, that really will mean my number’s up!

Some might say we have ‘too much time’ on our hands with all these hilarious quips!
‘Time to call it a day’ perhaps, I’ve got mundane household chores to do!

Would you prefer to have BST all year round then, and not go back to standard time in October @susan_m? I must say that would appeal to me too.
