Wouldn’t that bring you in line with European time? I have never understood why the UK doesn’t go onto European time.
SA has struggled with being half an hour behind the eastern states and has often thought about going onto AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) and AEDT (Australian Eastern Daylight Time) but has never done it. It would also put them completely out of sync with the NT.
We also have the anomaly of Broken Hill which is in NSW but keeps SA time because it is nearer to Adelaide than it is to Sydney.
Europe has always had daylight saving time as well. But the EU did agree to abolish it, and member states had a deadline by which they had to choose whether to stay on permanent summer time or permanent winter time. It was to have started in the spring of this year, but the changeover seems to have stalled.
That maybe so but why does Britain insist upon being an hour behind Central European time whether daylight saving time or not? It is surely absurd that London is an hour behind Barcelona or Paris? It makes no sense.
Whew, another false alarm. I thought I was going to have to change the clocks this weekend. I still have another week to go here.
How’s about it’s 5 o’clock somewhere?
I’m a staunch anti-DST person. I was rooting for a politician who ran on, among other things, getting rid of DST. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it. It’s been a topic of discussion here often.
I haven’t got a Smart phone, My sundial is broken, Son fixed the oven time in 10 seconds, so that one is wrong, car radio still said old time so it is now right.
And I forgot to change my radio alarm clock when I went to bed, so I got up an hour before I needed to. Lounge wall clock changes automatically so that was right, then I knew I’d got up too early & on a Sunday too. Happy Halloween.
