Trump - The Long Goodbye

he will by some he still has a tremendous amount of supporters

AFAIK, no darned rednecks will be invited to the inauguration …

Biden has said that Trump’s announcement that he will not attend the inauguration is one of the few things on which we agree.

Wrong answer.

Both of these men need to be reminded that they are REPRESENTATIVES of the people and that Trump should be present at the last step of the civil Peaceful Transfer of Power. Presence by the outgoing president is an important show of respect for the office of the presidency and the acknowledgement of a free election.

Twitter permanently suspends Trump’s account

Donald Trump has been permanently suspended from Twitter “due to the risk of further incitement of violence”, the company says.

Twitter said the decision was made “after close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them”.

Mr Trump had earlier been locked out of his account for 12 hours.

It comes after Mr Trump tweeted several messages on Wednesday, calling the people who stormed the US Capitol “patriots”.

On Thursday, Facebook said it had suspended Mr Trump “indefinitely”. The popular gaming platform Twitch also placed an indefinite ban on the outgoing president’s channel, which he has used for rally broadcasts. So has Snapchat.

Earlier on Friday, the company permanently banned two Trump loyalists: former national security adviser Michael Flynn and attorney Sidney Powell.

That’ll hurt Trump … in so many ways … :023:

‘Trump was raging because the poor white trash mob made him look bad. Melania was arranging porcelain for a photoshoot’: White House insider gives a vivid account of the ‘final hours of a deranged president in his bunker’

Surrounded by a handful of loyal consiglieres, he watched as the rioters stormed the US Capitol – astonishing images that shocked the world and would signal the brutal denouement of his four-year presidency.

Yet it was not the mayhem and violence that caused Trump to roar in fury – not the dead bodies, including a Capitol police officer who died from a massive brain bleed after being struck in the head with a fire extinguisher.

Far from it. As a White House source told The Mail on Sunday last night, Trump was ‘apoplectic’ in embarrassment because the ‘white trash’ mob on screen made him look bad.

‘He was angry, not at the appalling crimes they were committing, but because he felt embarrassed,’ said the source. ‘When they first stormed the Capitol he was enjoying it. These were “his people”.

‘But when he saw pictures of the half-naked guy in the fur hat he started complaining they looked “cheap and poor”.

‘Even at one of the worst moments in American history he was thinking about his image. He didn’t grasp the scale of the disaster.’

Of course, it’s only “hearsay” … :102:

Glanny sent me this so I thought I’d share it on OFF:

Impeachment, even after the inauguration, would mean that Trump wouldn’t be allowed to hold any further federal office. So it’s not simply a gesture.

Impeachment looms for ‘unhinged president’ on Monday

Trump could soon face impeachment proceedings for the second time in his single-term presidency, with Democrats in the US House of Representatives seeking to oust the “unhinged” president after his supporters stormed the US Capitol on Wednesday.

On Monday, Democrats will introduce legislation seeking to impeach the president, California Rep. Ted Lieu confirmed on Saturday.

In a tweet, Mr Lieu, who played a role in seeing the president impeached by the House for the first time in December 2019, said 180 co-sponsors had signed on to a new article of impeachment against Mr Trump for inciting Wednesday’s “violent insurrection”.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has said she hopes Mr Trump will resign from his role before Democrats are forced to act. In the meantime, she has pushed for the “unhinged president” to be stripped of access to the US’s nuclear codes.

Blimey … an “unhinged president” … surely such language from the presiding officer of the United States House of Representatives is treasonable or mutinous or somesuch … :037:

Trump National stripped of 2022 US PGA Championship

Trump National in Bedminster has been stripped of the US PGA Championship in 2022 as its organisers felt using the course as host would be “detrimental”. The PGA of America voted to terminate the agreement on Sunday.

Donald Trump, who owns the course, has been accused by Democrats and some Republicans of encouraging last Wednesday’s riot in Congress.

“It has become clear that conducting the PGA Championship at Trump Bedminster would be detrimental to the PGA of America brand and would put at risk the PGA’s ability to deliver our many programmes and sustain the longevity of our mission,” said PGA of America President Jim Richerson. It was a decision made to ensure the PGA of America and PGA professionals can continue to lead and grow our game for decades to come."

The course in New Jersey, one of 17 courses around the world owned by Trump, was due to host the major in May 2022. A representative for the Trump Organization said they were “incredibly disappointed” with the decision.

Trump will take that personally - no doubt he was looking forward to “lording it” at the event …

Trust Glanny to give us what we need :-D.

The issue regarding the suspension of Trump’s email account is bothersome to me. Do we really want to guess what he is thinking or get it right out there? Know thine enemy and let them show their slips, I say.

I am not a fan of censorship unless it is inciting violence or in some way commits a crime. It is a slippery slope.

The best way for these massive platforms to handle incendiary or criminal communication may be to have oversight outside of the company.

Limiting what he can freely say to his zealous supporters, or at least slowing it down into fragmented parts, seems to be a sensible thing to do.

Worth a watch.

Completely Agree.

Yes.Biden should have said nothing and look dignified ,his remark brought him down to Trump’s petty level.

Trump will be yesterday’s news soon…he won’t like that but there won’t be a lot he can do about it

The official US website states: "Donald J. Trump’s term ended on 2021-01-11 19:38:51

Deutsche Bank ‘cuts ties with Donald Trump over Capitol riots’

Two of Donald Trump’s favoured banks are pulling away from the billionaire president in the wake of last week’s deadly riot at the US Capitol.

Deutsche Bank AG has decided to refrain from further business with Mr Trump and his company, said a person with knowledge of the matter, asking not to be identified because the deliberations were confidential. Mr Trump owes the Frankfurt-based lender more than $300 million.

And Signature Bank, the New York lender that’s long catered to his family, said it’s cutting ties while it presses for his resignation. Signature is closing two personal accounts in which Mr Trump held about $5.3 million, a spokesperson for the firm said on Monday.

These “cuts” may well be the start of the collapse of Trump’s financial “empire”, given the number of lawsuits pending in which he is either plaintiff or defendant … :!:

This was carried out by disgruntled employee who decided such a childish stunt was more important than his job.

Hi

Free Speech comes at a cost.

I can call our PM, Boris, all the names under the sun.

I regularly do, I also call Corbyn all sorts of names.

That is my right and I will defend it.

What I cannot do is threaten violence against them, or incite violence against them or others.

That is not how our system works.

I have a vote and every few years I can use that vote to get rid of them.

I was part of the system and Free Speech has it’s limits.

Free speech does not include inciting violence or Terrorism and in particular does not include posting details of how to make bombs to kill and injure people.
