Not sure if it has always been this way but as of right now, it is very prevalent.
Rules are put in place for a reason.
“No smoking within 5 metres of doorway” totally ignored.
“Tenant parking only” totally ignored.
“No dumping of unwanted furniture” totally ignored.
“Only recyclables in yellow topped bin” totally ignored.
“Disabled parking only” totally ignored.
“Dogs must be on a a leash at all times” totally ignored.
Ignoring societal rules shows disrespect and contempt. “The rules do not apply to me” is the attitude of these miscreants.
Many people thumb their nose at signs.
So many rules/laws are not enforced so people know there will be no negative consequences for them.
Though the disabled person who can not get a park is negatively affected.
The person terrorised by a dog off lease is negatively affected.
The tenant who can not use his car bay is negatively affected.
Could not agree more Bretrick.
Only yesterday neighbours children decided they can play in our front garden,i gave them short shift, and reminded them that we have cctv, they didn`t bat an eye lid.
A good flogging would sort out the problems Bretrick…
Seems strange that all this trouble with kids and respect started when it was made illegal to give them a slap…It never did me any harm…
Absolutely Bretrick.
It is not just children either, the do gooders who say you can`t punish children have given them the thumbs up to do just what they want with no repercussions, and they know it,and things will only get worse sadly.
Over here, teachers can’t even tell off the kids in a classroom anymore, if they’re disturbing the lesson. There have been several cases recently where a parent of a “told off” student has gone and hit the teacher! Where will we end up?
I have a small group of 7/8 yr old Italian boys in a private English language school and when I try to scold one who is chatting away disturbing the rest of the class, he just ignores me as if I’m invisible and carries on chatting and shouting. His mum’s been informed of his disruptive behavior, she just said that we have to shout at him to be quiet. Well at least she says it’s ok to do that!
As unfortunate as it may be, today’s social / political environment trickles down to all sects of society (which is natural) and has left our community services lacking in many areas, especially law enforcement, and the hilarious thing about the whole situation, communities (which are forever seeking to increase revenue) are letting a valuable source of revenue slip right through their hands( @ least here in the States), parking / traffic violations. Now some of this may be / is due to police underfunding and the inability to recruit qualified personal.
In Scotland, all schoolage kids are given free bus passes. This allows them (in theory) to get to school and back regardless of income, attend clubs (ha!) and for the older ones who might have part time jobs / attend interviews etc.
Sadly though, it seems to have given them carte blanche to ride the buses en masse, using them like mobile gang huts. They fight with each other, give the bus driver grief by vaping relentlessly, (getting thrown off) and hitting the bus with missiles. Thankfully nobody has been hurt as yet, but its going to happen.
Unfortunately some well intentioned policies are abused by a cohort of society.
Maybe it is time this policy was revisited and reworked?
Give a monetary allowance instead of free passes?
Sure, this will also be misused but it would stop what is happening at the moment.
Well something needs to change, Bretrick, because the bus drivers are now refusing to take more than two kids at a time…and also driving past the schools at coming out time. (The drivers claim that the bus too full, if any parents complain)
