The USSR contained many, many countries - why do you only pick on Ukraine as being so very Russian that it does not deserve its own sovereignty? If use the example of USSR then why not also consider other European empires - Austro-Hungarian, Ottoman - and deny the existence of lots of central European countries? If the vast majority of the people of Ukraine want their own sovereign country - one that has existed for centuries - then surely they have that right. And the right not to be overtaken by force.
Zelensky does not really appear to manipulated. Unlike the old puppet Yanukovych was very, very corrupt and very, very pro-Putin.
That is not correct - please read up a bit more on this. There are tow oblasts that border Russia, that mostly speak Russian as their first language and have some level of pro-Russia sympathies. But those sympathies have been greatly exaggerated by Putin and he has been very active in funding anti-west, anti-Ukraine movements there. Ukraine is not 50% pro-Russia.

Your last paragraph is a gross misrepresentation of the chain of events. Putin had been looking for any excuse to attack Ukraine for many, many years (remember Crimea in 2014) and had a proxy war in Donbas going on since then. Zelensky only came to power in 2019. Then, once the war was underway for two years, the US stepping back was solely down to Trump - so in a sense given that he made that move it seems likely that he could see what was going on. You forgot to mention that Trump is very pro-Putin.

Watching the ongoing atrocities in Iran… the systematic violence, the unfathomable evil being committed against a country’s own people, I find myself struggling to find the right word for the people responsible and the sicko;s in the West supporting it.

Nobody on this thread has made any statement of support for the Iranian regime - quite the opposite, there has be consistent condemnation of the regime and its actions. So park your criticism of those who do not support this US/Israel war.
In fact, in case you had not worked out the obvious, the efforts by Trump now are to get a negotiated end to the war. That of course means leaving the regime intact. So who is becoming the biggest supporter of the regime? Trump because he is endorsing the regime through his desperate efforts to get a negotiated exit. To be even more clear - the war that you support has ended up with a stronger Iranian regime.
