It is true, but it was more about just being aware of injustice. So it wasn’t unique to being black, and like a lot of things, intersectional. People forget that Black Lives Matter was actually started by LGBTQ* black folks who were excluded from bigoted civil rights orgs. It was never just ‘one’ issue.
People scream they hate woke this and woke that, you ask them what it means and they can’t actually tell you. It’s apparently ‘obvious’ but when you ask what EXACTLY people are upset about they suddenly get quiet, because they know how it sounds. They have an issue with people being different, and wanting equal rights. I have been on the internet since the 90’s and NOTHING I have heard or read has explained it other than that. ‘I don’t like those people’. Being ‘anti-woke’ is supporting bigotry.
And you are talking about my life. A lot of the ‘anti-woke’ stuff is transphobic, homophobic etc. This is my life, not some ‘talking point’ or some abstract person who is on a protest?
I bleed, I hurt, I am here. Don’t try and distance this from real people and their lives…that’s a classic technique to ‘other’ people, make them less human. Nope, not doing that. I am not going anywhere. And if that makes me ‘woke’ then so be it, cos why is being aware of injustice and wanting to fight for a better world a dirty word? That’s on them. They are telling on themselves. They want to support hate.

It was originally a term that originated in the early 20th C ref black rights. BLM may have used it but it was adopted and not created by that organisation. Based on what you say about BLM history, it’s probably where the original link became intertwined with other issues which it was never intended to cover.
Being anti-woke isn’t supporting bigotry. People who are anti-bigotry have become very disillusioned with “woke” causes that conflict with other woke causes and create a hierarchy of causes where one cause is more important than another, pitting minority group against minority group. It’s become a house of cards and taken away the integrity of important causes or overshadowed them with a spotlight on ego-driven initiatives than end up being counter-productive as people become very detached from the umbrella term.
The term has lost its way and alienated many who are sympathetic to individual causes, but unhappy with an umbrella undefined group that decides what should be important to them and what shouldn’t. That same umbrella is now used by anyone right wing to attack each and every cause because these causes are now part of a “blob” of undefined and often conflicting views within a loose label. It’s not a positive term at all.

Well of course Trump has acted out of panic because he has mid terms so had to put his hand on the trigger of Iran before really thinking through, and he is now having to adjust to reality. I thought it was more than just Russian oil that had sanctions lifted.
That is what you do in wars, ajust.

If you start a war you have a strategy…you shouldn’t need to adjust to the reality of the mess you have caused because your “scenario planning” didn’t have that particular possible outcome, unless perhaps your intelligence is looking to chat gpt for advice.
When “Operation Sea lion” was a pending threat, our troops were issued with broom handles and I doubt very much if Churchill had a strategy. The scenario planning would have been achieved by adjusting, accepting he was not weighed down with endless old ladies fixing ball and chains to his legs as they did not like his personality.

What’s all this tosh about comparing today’s war with the UK at the start of WW2? That makes no sense. The point about not having a plan is about how Trump is going about attacking Iran. Therefore the comparison can only be with Germany at the start of WW2. They were the ones attacking other countries. And you have to acknowledge that the German plan(s) in the first two years of that war were clear, robust, well executed and successful. The US plans in the first week or so of this war are unclear, flakey and most likely are not going to be successful.
