The USA and the settler colony of Israel has started a war with Iran

Have we still got High Streets? I thought all the shops were now boarded up, not having been into town since pre-COVID. Still guess I could visit and admire the Asian graffiti.

ok let me say that another way, until it affects the pound in your pocket (whether virtual or cash)

doubtless you will both find something else to blame it on, based on alt news streams (or pleasant men with considerable presence not inclined to exaggeration that you met down the pub…)

I have got a pound in my pocket, it has been there four years. Fits in my Mercedes key fob, handy when I need a hospital wheelchair as they get nicked.

I am surprised that the new eBay is still existing.

is this the way to kick some life into the thread?

Seen on the news this morning that a French soldier was killed in Iraq.

It was was just a short statement. It got me to thinking. One of two things happened, he was delivering their surrender terms (shooting the messenger) or shooting prisoners.

Like the curiosity, if information provided was AI generated and than acts surprised, bots didn’t catch a comment that one doesn’t agree with.

I haven’t read the article “the sergeants affair” but fully plan to. But the statement about that makes me think it sounds a lot like the British occupation force in Ireland.

Another news clip I thought was a strange way of reporting it. A US citizen from Lebanon drove his vehicle into a synagogue. I apologize for pointing out the US has not taken any aggressive actions against Lebanon. But with some people’s thinking it’s ok because it around about way at getting back at Israel.

It’s nothing like Ireland. Britain was hugely instrumental in creating Israel, but the T&Cs did not please everyone.

Perhaps it was a non narrow minded bot today, or perhaps they have just given up on me. Anyway on forums for fragile old folk they are nothing more than “Woke” and all those still breathing know that “Woke” is dead and how common sense triumphed in an age of total madness. Courtesy of Piers Morgan whose book I am still reading…
Taken my wife to the dentist and they want two grand to make another top plate, the third in 18 months, so who needs to worry about Trump when a person can be ripped off in this country which has totally gone to pot. How do some poor folk manage.

Oh that is a pity. Woke is no more than empathy and caring about others, especially those who are less fortunate. So a good and nice thing. If woke is dead then we are left with selfish nastiness. That’s not good and does not help (as we’ve seen in a few posts of late).

Oh dear, that old thing. Common sense, in this context, is used to describe regressive thinking. And ignorance. And blindly ignoring important details. And a tendency to simplify complex things. I’m not sure we need more of that. Perhaps we’d be better with insightful, informed and thoughtful ideas. Or is that me just being overly optimistic?

That is you just being woke. Stop it. Woke is dead, remember?

These are not necessarily Iran financed actions but it is Irans standard operating procedures.

And this clip doesn’t include the parking accident at the synagogue.

The are are similar in a few way, British territories occupied by the British empire, supposedly for security reasons and other things. Only real difference is Ireland was occupied for 800 years for several different reasons.
It sounds a lot like what people are saying, stay out of other countries business.

There’s a big difference between woke and good manners. If you have to use insults to make a point then your point isn’t worth making.

it has an interesting history where it originated as an anti-racist stance, focused on black rights.

However, the term has since been hijacked by people to promote causes nothing to do with black rights. It’s chauvinistic use to promote niche hobbyhorses has just made serious causes that end up falling under the same umbrella into a joke. it may have started with good intentions but is not a good and nice thing now.

Definitely not my lot, but you post in strong support!!!

He has done some questionable debatable things and he has done some good things, like wake Europe up. So as posted, I remain neutral and observe, while old crows, crow.

All worthy of a whole thread of its own - but let’s not hijack this thread.

Sometimes people living in a cushy mollycoddled western world need an occasional jolt, and to go without stuff to make them realise how lucky they are Annie.
