Wasn’t the 3 day week due to the miners strike under Heath? Nothing to do with oil or OPEC as I remember it. There was definitely an oil price shock in the 1970s but I don’t think it had anything to do with causing the 3 day week and power outages.

Everything thus far was predicted and is predictable.
The US and Israel attacks means that Iran attacks the gulf states that tacitly endorse the US. Obvs. Iran aims to constrict oil supply - shut gulf of hormuz etc. Price of oil shoots up. Price of commodities, such as fertilisers, shoot up. Markets bleat and put pressure on Trump. The gulf states bleat and put pressure on Trump.
Next step - TACO.
Meantime. Hundreds of civilians killed, billions suffer unwanted inflation, a few US service personnel killed. Ta Donald. Arse.

Leavitt couldn’t explain Trump’s justification for the war at yesterday’s briefing. One minute she said Iran were going to fire a nuclear bomb the next made it clear that there was no proof one had been created or that they were any way ready to attack the west in 3 to 5 days. It’s all down to his advisers it seems.

Most of the UK’s electricity was generated by coal fired power stations and the coal was in short supply.
In our engineering factory we were only allowed to run the machines for three days per week. I thought it was great to only work two days and go walking and running in the wild places…
no wonder our manufacturing sector failed!

Your rude dismissal of my reasonable request for a simple explanation tells us a lot about you and your beliefs (that is, even you don’t value them). If you can’t be bothered repeating something just tell which of your (many) previous posts to re-read. They are helpfully numbered.

Not difficult to find at all. However, this thread is nothing more than many long-winded diatribes directed against Trump and Israel, starting from the opening line “Settler State”, without any thought given to the real threat and poison to Europe, which is Iran and the massive destruction and hate it causes and intends to continue to cause with friends. Putting aside the horror when it completes it ongoing nuclear programme, which it soon will and hypersonic missile development, accepting a delusional few believe otherwise. As a final note, I would confirm that I am totally neutral regarding Trump for the present time.
