well I think you have illustrated what your human mind is capable of - well done OGF - back to running now - you need to keep the puffs going!! :-p:-p
Fair Enough, catch you in this world…or the next?
Well here’s my experience and it was shared with my husband we both saw exactly the same person.
Working in a building in Guildford, we arrived and the alarms were on so we turned them off and started cleaning, he did bins I followed doing desks and when I breezed into an office there was a man behind the desk looking a bit dishevelled and worried, I apologised and said I didn’t realise anyone had come in. Later meeting up with my husband I said we had a man in one of the middle floor rooms and he said he should have told us as we could have set the alarm and caused police to attend so we both went to the room and said to him we were going could he set alarm when he left - his response was he was busy so busy so little time to finish it all, so we shrugged and left.
Next day phone rang boss was cross we hadn’t locked up so we explained what had happened. When we arrived at work the receptionist wanted to know who had been in the last evening because she wanted to tell them they must alarm the building if they were last in. So we took her to the room and she went pale, asked us who was in there we described the man and she sat down.
Turns out the man was killed lunch time the previous day in a car crash.
Explain it if you wish but I know what we experienced and the company believed us too when they saw the work that had been done that evening on cases he was behind with.
That is really fascinating Julie and very spooky,I dont think it can be explained away by anything…for some reason who knows it seems that as in life everyone has individual things to “finish” in death too…
I was with you all the way until the part above.
Aysa, wow I really am intrigued, when you finally realised I bet it sent shivers down you.
Nothing else after that, that was it ? and the last anyone saw of the poor chap.
Well I can only tell it as it happened and what the company said to us afterwards. I tended to believe them as he was involved in some heavy court cases and was finishing up work needed to help one of his cases.
I bet , I think we all like to hear a scary story, that is why horror films and books are so popular. I guess they add to that sense of feeling ‘alive’.
No amount of explanation or rationalization of experience will be listened too, people feel threatened when challenged and they don’t really want an explanation anyway.
It we believe something strongly enough we can convince ourselves it really happened, it can become real.
I was listening to a psychologist on the radio the other day giving some very credible explanations for ghostly appearances, as usual those who had experiences didn’t want to know.
Anyway if we spoil all the ‘good stories’ with reality there will be nothing to recount to thrill others on dark winters nights.
Sorry Julie, I misread thinking it was Aysa’s experience.
My answer is just the same
We left that job a week or so later not saying we were terrified but we definitely felt rather unnerved by it and never felt comfortable if we got split up so decided for the best to just find a less unnerving building.
Julie wow what an experience, I can understand that you felt un nerved and not wanting to go into the room again or being split up when you are at work.
My husband and I are paranormal investigators so go into the ins and outs of everything that we see, hear, feel etc.
We have had so much happen to us over the years that cannot be explained by rational means, but when you see someone like that in their normal work setting not soon after they have died cannot be dismissed lightly.
I’m curious as to why the experience made you feel unnerved. I can understand a certain spookiness feeling, but you were never threatened in any way in this scenario. Can you explain your reaction further, Julie?
Call me a coward but it just left me nervous. I know I wasn’t threatened but that didn’t make me feel any happier to be stood in the offices in the deathly quiet wondering what the shadows were.
You are not a coward at all Julie. We have to remember that you are cleaning offices when most people have gone home for the evening.
I agree that it’s nothing to do with being cowardly. I was just curious as I don’t know how I would react, but I think I may have had a sense of reassurance from it.
Yes, no matter how fascinated I was (and I am) I don’t think I would feel comfortable unless 2 or more could be together the whole time
Now I said in response to Solo, but it has somewhat been misinterpreted to what has gone on for some pages, which I have enjoyed reading.
It is only natural for folks to be frightened of death, but not so much in the elderly.
Now at 77 I feel I have had a 7 year bonus, because I arrested twice in 2009 but still here.
This I think proves my thinking When the Fear of Death Is Unhealthy
Not sure that would go down well in court knowing the case files had been altered by a GHOST  .
Wouldn’t catch me cleaning the place after that.
I think these ‘experiences’ are great entertainment …
WE WANT MORE!
Excellent post Meg, a clear example of fact merging into fiction; we are the only life form on the planet who have the ability to imagine stuff - and believe it.
But you haven’t answered the question you were asked i.e. Why do you believe that just sceptics are extremely afraid of dying? What has anybody’s fear of death got to do with being sceptical about the supernatural??
Your link merely talks about fear of death in general.
