It is said that there are no 'marriages in afterlife, that you recognise and love all those you loved in your previous life. I cant quite rmember what it was ,but there is something in the Bible that Jesus spoke about , I think it was a man with two wives, both in heaven,No I think it was a man going to Heaven where his two wives were
Meg said :-----I won’t be popping up to chat to anyone when I die either .
You really don’t know that Meg.
I think they are frightened Solo, because why would they not be afraid to meet the almighty?
An open mind is always the best way to approach Spiritualism, there are millions of Spiritualists around the world, they all can’t
be wrong now can they.
Wrinkly spiritualism is a very new religion, it has only been around for couple of hundred years. I am afraid ‘the almighty’ as you put it was against communicating with the dead so wouldn’t be pleased with your lot and their new ideas.
I think you should be careful telling people what they should or shouldn’t be afraid of.
I fear nothing , I will leave that to your lot who have some explaining to do when they meet their god.
I really do Wrinkly
Odd how you are so sure with no proof Meg, almost like a religion
Not at all Julie presumably I would have a choice whether to speak or not
Good post Doc.
We shall have to agree to disagree Meg, but I think Doc’s post on about page 7 just sums it up nicely.
What utter nonsense! Why should those of us who choose not to believe in religious/spiritual/supernatural fantasies be afraid of death? We may, like everyone, be worried about the manner of our death and prefer a cosy, painless end, but death itself is simply the logical end to a natural process - the only thing we all have in common.
Have to agree - don’t see the logic in being afraid of death
That was my immediate question too. I don’t see how scepticism equates to a fear of dying.:confused2:
Sorry, Wrinkly, but I don’t understand your response in relation to solo’s question. Why would sceptics be afraid to, as you put it, ‘meet the almighty’??
There are also millions of Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Jainists, Sceptics, Agnostics and Atheists around the world - they can’t all be right can they?
Only people I have ever known scared of death were scared of how they would die, the pain etc which seems perfectly logical to me.
Why not ? they may all be true for themselves.
Exactly - only natural
I don’t begrudge anyone their right to ‘believe’ but on a purely intellectual discussion level (as on this forum) I did. Why? Well, it was interesting to argue the point at one time but now? What is the point? As long as a person is happy and strong believing what they need to believe in then all is well. As long as they don’t attempt to convert me then I’m at peace with the world and them.
So, all you believers I ain’t saying you are right but your confusion makes you think you are right, which is the main thing isn’t it .
:twisted::twisted::twisted:
There is no logic where fear is concerned.
Hence the illogicality of phobias…the fear in someone’s mental make-up is usually irrational so you’d be wasting your time trying to reason with them.
…just as trying to reason with someone’s faith.
Faith and fear are different sides of the coin.
A brick wall is a brick wall! It doesn’t care if you believe in it or not - if you run into it it will hurt you! Some things are demonstrably, physically true - others are not.
Anyone who believes they have seen a ghost or claim to have had contact with the spirit world have absolutely no idea what the human mind is capable of.
Oh we do though - it repeats itself - a lot !
