If the farmers follow these guidelines - could they then sell the produce in a farm shop or from a stall by the gate - or is it just for their own consumption?
I’m pretty sure it would be illegal to sell the meat to the public though, Tabs.
For a start, it wouldnt have been passed by the meat inspectors and could contain drugs and medication like wormers and antibiotics.
Also, i doubt many farms would be geared up for the required hygiene facilities and then the cold storage of the carcases on such a large scale.
Years ago when i kept dairy goats, the rules changed and we were not allowed to sell untested milk at the farm gate anymore, yet it was considered quite safe for the owners to drink!
I fear much animal cruelty is looming for these poor pigs.
To slaughter it must be for consumption by the household, BUT … these are supposedly going to be slaughtered (before being disposed-of) so presumably there’s no good reason why the carcases could not be inspected, stored and butchered by anybody with the facilities to do so.
As I’ve said before, it seems that there is too much about this “story” which doesn’t really make very much sense.
This is morally wrong on so many counts .Pigs are sentient intelligent animals for a start they know their fate and that is why they suffer such distress at the slaughterhouse and frequently try to escape .
It is totally immoral to kill animals and burn them . For the love of anything nearly all farmers own guns a 22 bullet in the head given while the pig eats his breakfast will dispatch him quickly and humanely .a captive bullet ( humane killer ) will do the same if the pigs are held in a crush .
There is no good reason when the meat cannot bee distributed and frozen . Half the world is starving people are going to food banks and farmers for economic reasons intend to burn food ?
This world is sickening .
