I heard on the radio that the North is fine but the south is not. So some areas will have plenty. However, it does affect import and export of goods from Southern ports for all if the South is not fine.
The roots go all the way back to king coal and the industrial revolution. I wonder how many members can remember the London pea-sourer smogs with yellow clinging fall-out to attack lungs and eyes. I can and it sure was repressive! Enter, the Clean Air Act 1956 and things gradually started to improve. The act has been amended several times as time marched on and general respiratory afflictions also improved.
Tescoâs were obviously out on Friday, with bollards blocking the station, I wasnât looking for any just passing.
BMW were at it with their Hydrogen 7 ICE but abandoned the project in '97. Short sighted IMHO.
I have an apology to make. The builder was not in Ealing, he was in Newcastle-on-Tyne.
My BiL has a Lexus that does around 20mpg when using petrol. He bought it from a company that was going bust about 10 years ago. The first thing he did was have an LPG conversion done. On a cost/mile basis, this effectively doubled the mileage he was getting.
Even today, anyone driving a petrol car for more than about 15-16k miles/year stands to win out having an LPG conversion done.
@Percy_Vere , Thatâs a quite understandable mistake to make
Percy,( you are forgiven) . The reporters have been scouring
the countryside looking for empty petrol tanks for days now??
Itâs hard to tell where they are ??
Donkeyman!
We havenât even touched the surface of what impending issues we might face as we continue trying to be a world leader in stopping Global warming.
No wind machines turning, no nuclear power stations, no coal digging, electric cars becoming mandatory, having to pay 10 grand to change your heating boiler, where are the things which will help you feed your family?
And your Gas having to come in from Europe?
Itâs going to be a colder place to live .
Not forgetting electricity coming from Norway:
@ Baz, 46, Never fear for anything, our financial industry can provide all our needs ??
Canât they, !!??
Donkeyman!
Why do people think those with electric cars will be ok?
What will they think will happen this winter with electric/gas going sky high, with another pending increase next April?
Will the electric car owners still be laughing then?
With all the talk in the papers about ambulances canât get fuel, what about cop cars?
Why donât essential vehicles like these have their own supplies on their premises, like buses do? You donât see double decker buses queuing at our forecourts, so theyâve got it sussed.
No idea any more DM, you tell me! This country is getting into such a state in many, many areas that itâs almost impossible to work out where all this comes from and how itâs all going to be resolved. In the last 50 years Iâve never seen such problems as there are now!
@Baz46 , just seen on GB News that some petrol companies are REFUSING assistance
from the army ??
Is this true ?? If so what are their reasons, surely this is tantamount to calling a strike ??
IGTF!!
Donkeyman!
Like I said in my previous post DM â âNo idea any more DM, you tell me!â
I have just about given up with it all nowadays, itâs just too much to try and deal with and remain sane! All I want in my retirement years is a bit of peace and quiet, not all this trouble, I have had enough of that over the last 50+ years!
I can see that Soldiers might be much less likely to accept crappy planning, bad service facilities,im properly maintained Lorries, you name it.
I donât believe that our Military should be used this way, unless they get a large bonus to do so, but I do believe that using Soldiers might start a revolution in the slap happy, non caring, Management, of some delivery companies.
Why shouldnât they ?
I think itâs a good thing they have the drivers they canât be any urgent military crisis on just at this minute .
They can pull their weight as well as anyone else .
I reckon they should just let us run out of fuel⊠âŠBetter get used to itâŠ
Some you forgot OGF:
When the snow arrives:
If the floods happen:
No boat then you can always swim to work:
This is where I prefer to be though:
This last one beats having to work at all, like when fully retired!
@Baz 46, l get the feeling that you have just retired Baz ?
I think you will soon get bored with bed,if so?
Donkeyman!
If they become part of the delivery system, and then a new crisis happens, out there in the world, they will all disappear, overnight.
Of course, the Gov will have planned for such an eventuality
