The End of The Pandemic in Sight says WHO

To follow up on my previous post again ??
The queues continue unabated at westminster, people are now six abreast
and take 22hrs to reach their objective !! Still with nary a mask to be seen !!
Who will take responsibility for this infringement of protocol ?? :thinking::thinking:

Hindsight is a wonderful thing

@Dextrous63 , answer the question ?? :+1::+1:

Which one?

@Dextrous63 , Read the post ?? :+1::+1:

Sorry @Donkeyman , there are several posts and several questions. Which one do you want me look at turn into a politician, and avoid answering?

@Dextrous63 , just fer a laugh, try answering em one at a time then. :roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

What protocol are you referring to?

@Dextrous63 ,. Ah, l see, :grin:
The avoid crowded spaces ,
Avoid approaching people who arenā€™t wearing mask,
Avoid approaching people without wearing a mask yourself,
Avoid peopleā€™ generally, protocol ?
Boris lost his job recently for breaching this ?? :+1::roll_eyes::roll_eyes::+1:

@Donkeyman, enforcable restrictions were removed as of 27th Jan 2022 with masks and proximitly restrictions downgraded to suggestions.

Boris lost his job because he repeatedly lied about things, including breaking his own laws within Downing Street.

@Dextrous63 , Thatā€™s why l used the word ā€˜protocolā€™ ?
The advice given by the protocol is still valid??
It appears that people are ignoring the advice! :worried::worried:

Masks are not required anywhere in NSW except on public transport but as I observed elsewhere it seems to be largely ignored even there.

However I visited the Nan Tien Temple where they strictly enforced mask wearing in their shrines but have deleted the rule about not wearing shoes. I thought it an odd adjustment of the rules. Though you do still see people wearing masks in just about all settings.

It is up to individual organisations to enforce their own rules (eg at the deli counter in the supermarkets all the staff wear masks)

We donā€™t know how many died in these countries because they donā€™t record health statistics accurately.

I canā€™t prove I had mild covid in 2020 as they didnā€™t have the tests then, but I can say that after the strange illness with unusual symptoms, I had a number of distressing knock on effects that have taken two years to resolve. The muscle issues were the most debilitating. I still have some problems with my wrist tendons. Just not as strong as before. It was like pinging a guitar string, but itā€™s in your muscle or tendon. Not being able to walk down the stairs (hobbling). Horrible exhaustion with muscle problems, with awful skin problems on my feet, even urinary urgency (thankfully that was short term) and a nasty condition on my eyelid with swelling, months being unable to complete basic tasks - hoovering, laundry, etc. It was like having little fishing hooks in my muscles. But I am one of the lucky ones. 4 people on our street died. I knew 2 fairly well. I know so many who lost family and friends.

So if it was a con - it was a pretty convincing one!

@AnnieS , You seem to have missed my point Annie, like so many others
on this thread ?
I am not saying there was NO covid,( there definitely was)
What l am saying IS, That covid turned out to be a pussy cat and
not a tiger ?
Big Pharma cashed in on this big time !! :roll_eyes::roll_eyes::roll_eyes:

That sounds suspiciously like Trumpspeak to me.

This is from the Lancet:

As of May 31, 2022, there were 6Ā·9 million reported deaths and 17Ā·2 million estimated deaths from COVID-19, as reported by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME; throughout the report, we rely on IHME estimates of infections and deaths; note that the IHME gives an estimated range, and we refer to the mean estimate). This staggering death toll is both a profound tragedy and a massive global failure at multiple levels. Too many governments have failed to adhere to basic norms of institutional rationality and transparency, too many peopleā€”often influenced by misinformationā€”have disrespected and protested against basic public health precautions, and the worldā€™s major powers have failed to collaborate to control the pandemic.

https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(22)01585-9/fulltext

It turned out ok because there was a worldwide effort to contain it and then vaccinate. We donā€™t have stats of many poor countries but far more people died than officially reported, and many who lived have long term conditions as a result. Itā€™s not just about death but the chronic effects of this disease and the amount of sick leave people have had to take.

I am just one person and itā€™s messed up the last two years for me. I canā€™t do as much as I used to pre-covid. Canā€™t exercise as much, still have to ration activity, am more prone to injury. It has improved (slowly) but I still have weeks where I donā€™t feel so good. Doctors are flummoxed as blood tests all good. Itā€™s no longer like climbing a mountain getting through the day but itā€™s been a tough period. Pre Covid I was a super active person with energy to do everything. Suddenly back in 2020 trying to trim the hedge meant that Iā€™d be in pain & wiped out for days. I canā€™t explain the feelings - itā€™s like fibromyalgia.

So multiply that by whatever number of people who may be feeling the same or much worse. Thereā€™s an overall reduction in health in the whole country and a myriad of chronic problems doctors have never had to face or understand. A colleagueā€™s son is really sick with neurological problems. Doctors are scratching their heads to understand. Productivity in the economy is reduced.

So this is happening all over the world & much of it is hidden suffering. A friend in the US - her dad is now in a hospice after having severe covid back in December. The whole family were unvaccinated and suffered greatly when they were finally infected. Itā€™s changed their lives.

Yes Covid is passing thank goodness but it would have been far worse without the global effort. So you can say oh it was all nothing, but thatā€™s because we survived it.

How many times have I seen that word [estimated] associated with Covidā€¦
Donkeyman is absolutely right, it has been the biggest con the world has ever seen, even bigger than the global warming con.

Yes there has been a pandemic bigger than usualā€¦Was it man made? Who knows!
Each winter prior to covid our local hospital is overflowing with many elderly (and the odd young person) there are many deaths. Usually from pneumonia even though they were admitted with flu or breathing difficultiesā€¦Exactly the main reason why people with covid expired.

Since there are no precise figures, for obvious reasons, what other term ought to be applied?

Amazing how people report the after effects of having the covid vaccines are shouted down and called conspiracy theorists because they canā€™t prove it, or that it could be associated with something else. But people who report the after effects of covid (long covid) are always believed and taken seriouslyā€¦Mrs Fox and I thought we would die when we had covid, probably more to do with the constant hype on the news than anything covid was doing to us (it was classed as a life sentence). Well we didnā€™t die, and we didnā€™t have the vaccines either. And Iā€™m happy to report we are both as fit as fiddles now with no lasting effects whatsoever.

OGF Iā€™m not going to have the conversation about the link between the deterioration of your heart health so soon after Covid because we have already discussed that at length. But itā€™s a perfect example of what I just said. I had a very bad reaction to the vaccine myself and Iā€™ve also discussed that here.

The new Moderna bivalent booster will be avoided by me as Iā€™ve heard that has adverse reactions. Iā€™ve had no problems with Pfizer.
