The American Bully

Obviously Max is very trustworthy, but even our Brandy I’d not have left alone with a toddler, she was lovely with older kids, mine & others, but she wanted to round up toddlers like sheep.
Brandy with my daughter, then 5.

My thoughts are no matter how trustworthy. I would never leave any dog alone with children . I had 2 dogs , so I know how they are part of a family , but they still have a basic instinct . I never touch a strange dog , I have an inner fear until I know them . Where this fear comes from I don’t know . Yet once I know the animal I’m completely at ease .

I don’t understand the neighbours of Swimfeeder how the RSPCA don’t pay him a visit . I fear for those children . The animal looks so vicious .

I commented on my dog and his exemplary behaviour. This was mine about sixty years ago laid about with the little teasing girl. Maybe, just maybe, their behaviour was part of that.

Horrendous footage

Where was the owner?

That was the owner dragging the dog off the old lady.
She was in the road .
He went off and left her .

Not a very good owner.

I think a lot of the time if a dog attacks another dog or a person it’s mainly the owners fault. If a dog is trained properly from a pup it learns what is right & what is wrong. Too many owners never bother to train their dogs.

Owning a dangerous and unpredictable animal is like owning a gun. It should be confiscated and destroyed and the owner banned from ever owning an animal again. These people are the ones most likely to mistreat and inflict cruelty to any animal Tiff…

For me it is the owner rather than the dog. Mostly we had collies and generally were active dogs. But one was very aggressive - and that was the owner who actively encourage it.

Besoker once you have had any dealings with a pit bull type you know how very dangerous they can be . ( I lived in a country where they were very popular ) They are sweet and loving dogs to those they love but when they bite they bite their jaw is huge .
They were bred to fight and still have those traits inside them .
I have a collie the sweetest dog that ever was but I know collies who were not sweet and had very strong herding instincts which made them difficult . ( herding up visitors / children etc ) some would nip to ensure compliance .

I have. A pair Bull Bull were down our way with their owner, no leads. My dog up the rig, stopped them. No barking. Just that collie stare. He sent them on their way.

Brandy did that with toddlers, Muddy, don’t think she ever actually nipped one though, but I didn’t take chances. She was fine with bigger kids.

It’s still the dog that does the damage Besoeker. I’ve never been bitten by an owner…

Hi

The dogs are bred to be violent.

Violent dogs have a place, it is defending livestock from predators.

It is not in an Urban Area.

They are the dog of choice for drug dealers, the Government have refused to ban the dogs.

I have one next door to me and the police can do nothing.

The average American Bull’ has anything up to 800 pounds in it’s bite. Occasionally, one might be found that has a metric ton in it’s bite. If it’s got you, you (or somebody else) must kill it, to get it off you.

Easier said than done I fear. I really can’t comprehend why these dogs aren’t banned. Take a firm stance in the first instance otherwise it’s going to be a real toughie getting the genie back in the bottle.

A dog bit me. Believe it or not, was from the same litter as my own dog. The owner’s fault?
