Being of Scottish descent, I am now in a darkened room!
I was watching Gordon McQueen on Sky Sports news and his opinion of the referee was shared by a lot of people, including me, what a stinker he had.
Yes, some of the decisions by the ref and his merry men were a bit quaint to say the least.
That said, in all honesty the Scots should have got something out of the game. The Czech team were perhaps a better all round side but even so to let a player like Milan Baros all the room in the world is asking for trouble.
The defending was non-existant. lets hope for better next game.
I have been watching England under 21s v Israel Under 21s and was once more very impressed by the way that Stuart Pearce has got the team playing. It was only a friendly match but to turn a 0-1 deficit into a 4-1 win was fantastic to say the least and coming on top of their recent escapades it looks like he has got a very good squad together, hope that bodes well, for the future.
They are going to have to do something about the ridiculous diving thats taking place everywhere, not only in the Scotland game. How the hell can any ref judge at full speed, whether some sod is faking or not. If these cheating buggers of any nationality want to dive, then go see Tom Daley our Olympic competitor, heāll hopefully teach them, or better still sling them in at the deep end attached to a ten ton weight.
I have to consign yet another match under Capello to the drawer marked āRudderless in a mediocre sea of conflicting ideasā
In truth we got a result at home for a change and that is what matters but is this the best we have to offer against a team 113 places below us in the world rankings?
It may well be that Gary Speed has rejuvinated the Welsh team and they are far better than the position they currently occupy and are set to climb, but that is not the whole sad story.
We set off at an amble and got slower, the Welsh defenders were able to handle everything that came their way until a lapse in concentration saw Stuart Downing skin his marker and Ashley Young easily slot home from the peach of a cross. We would all be forgiven to assume that the floodgates would open and a rout would be on the cards.
We know better than that though donāt we! we just nodded off again and allowed the opposition to come back into the game.
The second half belonged almost entirely to Wales with young Aaron Ramsey the best player on view by a country mile.
I was glad to see my own clubs Jack Collison turn in a creditable performance but Robert Earnshaw will have nightmares for the glaring miss for sometime to come as justice would have been served if the game ended in a draw.
The turning point for me? the scintillating three minutes on the pitch for poor Andy Carroll, why?
Yet another mystery from the annals of Postman Pat, Capello tactics, and can someone explain to me what it was he was talking about after the match?
Unintelligable.
One good thing, it was nice to see big John Hartson looking fit and well.
Sad to learn that before last nights game a Wales fan died from a possible cardiac arrest following an incident involving some other fans.
At the time of writing it seems that the no English supporters were involved not that it matters where they actually came from.
Condolences to his family.
Plenty of goals at the Boleyn Hammer I bet that was a great match for the neutrals but at least they won at home, well done!
I have rarely seen Liverpool dominate a game like the second half at Stoke and yet come away pointless, mind you, they wonāt be the only club to end up like that at the Brittania Stadium.
On another subject, it is really disturbing to note the amount of red cards mounting up in the various leagues at such an early stage of the season, we could do without it all, itās not pleasant and is unwanted.
Yes Bob we finally got a result at home but oh dear did we nearly blow it again after what should have been a comfortable win.
I am at a loss to understand the tactics but then again the Allardyce mind is a mystery to even him, why did we play with just one up front because it soon became clear that old fumble feet Cole was very lonely on his own. Even though he did manage to score a good goal, a little bit more help from another body would I think have seen us win a lot more easily.
The game was messy really, a good start especially by Pompey but when the feet started to fly in late and a lot of moaning was going on to the ref it got bad and I think he lost the plot due to pressure being put on him.
Nolan seemed to be having a pop at just about everyone and it was not a good sight to see.
Piquionne got his marching orders late on, so late it was almost Sunday morning. When will these guys realise that you cannot put your hands on an opponents face and keep out of trouble.
So we lose him for three games for a stupid action.
Next game Millwall away on Saturday. (Winces at the prospect)
This weekend could see a few difficult games for our usual posters clubs.
On Saturday Lincoln City visit Luton for what could be a very tough match. The home side presently occupy third spot in the table whilst the Imps have yet to get their season underway.
Liverpool travel to White Hart Lane to play Spurs on Sunday.
The reds could do themselves a lot of good here and get a decent result especially whilst Tottenham are not having the best of times in the Prem.
As for us, a very short trip to Millwall. I just hope for the sake of football it passes off peacefully. Whilst I would like a win at the Den a trouble free afternoon would do.
Good luck to all out teams.
Rugby World Cup. yes I am following Ireland again and thought they were alright. Tomorrow its Australia so for Gods sake come out fighting lads, I see the Flannery one is out again for an injury and wont be back, if i was the manager I wouldnt ask him again, needs must when the devil rides.
Good luck to the lads Annie, may the luck of the Irish ride forth in strength just for you!
Yes Hammer that fixture versus Millwall does look a bit tasty and past records do nothing to suggest a nice sporting encounter really but we can but hope and on Sunday it would be nice to think that Pool could come away with the spoils, I suppose I would rate a draw as good enough at the lane.
John, what can I say except the very best of luck to the Imps at Luton, they really will have to play out of their skins I think.
Mustnāt forget Cowdenbeath, how are they doing Jim?
Good luck to everyone this weekend:lol:
John, what can I say except the very best of luck to the Imps at Luton, they really will have to play out of their skins I think.
Bob, Iām taking the 5th Amendment as far as Lincoln City are concerned! As for Luton, oh dear tin hats and bicycle clips all round.
No less but a 15-6 result Annie! great stuff.
I actually got up early to watch the England match.
For 60 minutes I regretted my rashness. Thankfully we got there in the end although the 41-10 scoreline does not reflect how well Georgia played.
We need to start playing now and stop giving so many penalties away, the referees are watching all our tricks and mean to punish them.
What an awful result for Liverpool yesterday, a 4-0 whipping from Spurs and the sending off of both Charlie Adam and Martin Skirtel but long before the end of this match, in fact early into the first half it became so obvious that the reds were not playing with much discipline at all, it is a long time since I saw a Liverpool side so disorganised and sloppy, even the fact that they ended up playing with 9 men was no excuse for such an awful display and you canāt help but wonder what is going to happen in the Carling Cup at Brighton on Wednesday. It is time for Kenny Dalglish to get a firm grip on his squad and sort out some of his under performing ābig namesā.
Hammer, not too bad a result at Millwall I suppose, at least it seems to have been a good game and poor old Lincoln lost by just a lone goal away at Luton, was it an improved display John?
Cowdenbeath still having a decent season too it would appear.
Bob, Luton got a bloke sent off in the first half, fat lot of good that did. Pretty dire as usual, and to cap it all, Lincoln got one of their own sent off in the dying minutes. In the bottom four already. Hello Unibond or is it Evostick? Calls for Steve Tilson to go, gates at an all time low(would you pay Ā£18 for this kind of stuff?), canāt get much worse. Good news though, sales of headache pills are at an all time high in the city!
Oh dear John, surely it can only get better? Always the poor old manager who is the scapegoat, look at Peter Reid, just got the elbow from Plymouth Argyle and they are in administration. A manager is only as good as his players, even Mancini at Man City is moaning that he wants more players:-)
Better luck at the next fixtures maybe!
Hey whats with the all talking and even smiling Sir Alex these days lads!!!
Hi Annie, yes he certainly put the kybosh on the young upstart
from Chelsea No wonder he is smiling after the weekendās results!
John! A win for the Imps and against Gateshead, wow! Halcyon days
